The cast also includes soprano Leah Hawkins, mezzo-soprano Raehann Bryce-Davis, tenor Victor Ryan Robertson, and bass-baritone Michael Sumuel, with Maestro Kazem Abdullah conducting the propulsive, jazz-inflected score. Actress Angela Bassett, who portrayed Dr. Betty Shabazz in the 1992 film Malcolm X, hosts the transmission.
