Lives are at stake, and too many politicians play games. [View in browser]( {NAME}, Congress must act now to support the victims of Hurricane Helene and prepare for the looming threat of another Category 5 storm heading toward Florida’s west coast. My opponent, Steve Scalise, holds a powerful position in the House GOP leadership. With a single decision, he and Speaker Mike Johnson could bring all 435 members of Congress back to Washington, D.C. to pass critical disaster relief. This aid would offer immediate help to millions suffering from the devastation. But Scalise refuses to act. Instead of ending the recess—a break they treat like vacation—he and his allies are sitting idle while homes, livelihoods, and lives are being destroyed. Their refusal to do their duty at such a crucial moment is not just irresponsible—it’s immoral. This kind of inaction isn’t just politics as usual. It fuels the deep distrust Americans have in government. How can people trust politicians who care more about their own convenience than saving lives? While the Biden Administration is doing everything it can, federal relief funding lies in the hands of Congress. History has shown us, from Hurricane Katrina to today, that when Republicans like Trump, Scalise, and Johnson are in charge, our communities are left to fend for themselves. Enough is enough. We need leaders who act in times of crisis, not extremists who put lives at risk. Steve Scalise and his MAGA allies have proven they’re not up to the task. [Will you help me defeat Scalise? We need real leadership in Congress—leadership that puts people before politics.]( If you've saved your payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will go through immediately: [Donate $5 >>]( [Donate $15 >>]( [Donate $25 >>]( [Donate $50 >>]( [Donate $100 >>]( [Donate $250 >>]( [Donate another amount]( or [multiply your impact with a monthly contribution!]( Thank you for standing with me to remove do-nothing politicians who undermine both our democracy and our communities’ safety.
