Shocker right? Especially when most people say you don’t talk about your solution enough. Yes, you want to mention your offer early. You don’t want the ‘I have a surprise and am excited to share something cool’ spiel. But what else should you be talking about? Talk about pain points? This seems like an appropriate thing to do to in your marketing, right? You’re told to have a deep understanding of your target audience. You’re told to plot their pain points and questions along the customer journey. After all, when you talk about pain points, you mirror your customer’s feelings back to them. ​ This paints you as an ally — as someone who understands what your customer is going through. So what’s the problem with this approach? Well, 10,000 other marketers do the very same thing. Everyone talks about pressing pain points and problems. This gives rise to predictable content that looks like it’s churned from the same content assembly line. Talking about your solution and your customer’s pain points is a very tiny sliver of what it means to be effective in your marketing. For your marketing to be effective, there are 5 things your audience need to be saying 🤩 You read my mind - Are you mirroring their feelings and beliefs back to them? Do you even speak their language? 😮 I didn’t think of it that way - Are they aware of how you and your offer are different? 🙂 I get it now - What beliefs are you helping shift? What aha moments are you instilling ? 🥳 I can see this working for me - Is there a clear signature process that you're sharing? 😃 When I think of ‘name of topic’, I think of ___ The content assets you create (emails, blog, podcast episodes, videos) should cumulatively take your audience across these 5 stages. When your marketing isn't translating to sales or clients, you’re likely only taking your subscribers a part of the way. Think of it as a transformation bridge with your offer or service or YOU on the other side. It’s got nothing to do with cranking out another newsletter or using a new platform or doing more reels.
