Read on for more… Accelerating Change and Radically Increased Lifespan… As you’ll see in this week’s Global Macro Update interview with Dr. Michael Roizen of the Cleveland Clinic, our understanding of the human lifespan is about to undergo more change in the next decade than it has in the last century. The implications to markets, society, public policy, and to you … are profound. Since 1900, for example, the percentage of the total American population aged 65 or older has increased from 4.1% to almost 20%. But what if, within the next decade, we’re forced to radically redefine what age means ? Said another way, 65 may not be the beginning of one’s twilight years, but may simply become the start of “middle age.” This may sound preposterous, but as Dr. Roizen discusses below, it’s already coming true. Consider the following chart, courtesy of the US Census Bureau: Regardless of current birth rates or lingering pandemic effects, the long curve of population bends toward more citizens living longer. Longer, in fact, in scale and number than we’ve ever before encountered in human history. What does this mean for your healthcare, your lifestyle decisions today, and your retirement planning? Dr. Michael Roizen and I discuss this in detail below, but first… A Quick Look at the Markets This Past Week… Gold was down 2.7% to $1,703. The average 30-year mortgage rate rose 8.2% to 5.55%. Yields on 10-year Treasuries increased 5.5% to 3.28%. The S&P 500 declined 6.6% to 3,920. Bitcoin was up .75% to $19,763. Oil declined over 10% to $87.20/barrel for WTI. And now… This Week’s Global Macro Update Interview… This week, I spoke with Dr. Michael Roizen, Chief Wellness Officer at the Cleveland Clinic, and author of The Great Age Reboot: Cracking the Longevity Code for a Younger Tomorrow.
