Top secret whiskies, incoming 🥃 Defilement: untraditionally delicious Dear {NAME},  Calling all Sherlock Holmes and whisky fans to the [Defilement range]( It's everything we love about whisky, focusing purely on the liquid because, for whatever reasons (okay, mainly legal ones) the crafty team behind these bottlings can't disclose where they're distilled. Oh, and expect all kinds of funky cask finishes and jaw-dropping age statements too.  A particular standout is the [40 Year Old Blended Whisky]( not least because it's seen four actual decades of ageing, but because it's also astoundingly good value. After many, many years in the cask, a certain whisky from a certain famous origin dipped below 40% ABV, meaning it wasn't technically a whisky anymore. But when it was cleverly blended with other higher strength whiskies from that same origin, it became a whisky again – just not of said certain famous origin. Get the jist? So here we have it, 40 Year Old Blended Whisky, and don't you dare try to work out where it's from! £199.95   Cask finished magic Remember those cask finishes we were talking about? Sink your teeth into their deliciousness with these impressive bottlings! How about a [26 Year Old Maple Syrup Cask Finish]( (finished in a Pedro Ximénez sherry octave that previously held maple syrup), or the [22 Year Old Chestnut Cask Finish]( And let's not overlook the brilliant bargain that is the [8 Year Old Chestnut Cask Finish](.  None of these are traditional, and they're barely by the book (or not by the book at all, in fact) in terms of regulations surrounding a particularly popular style of whisky from a certain location, but we think that just makes them all the more tasty.   The news in brief   [Top ten: whisky aged in rum casks]( Whisky makers love giving ageing stocks a rummy resting period in tropical casks from sunshine shores.   [The Burns Night Poetry Competition returns!]( Make us laugh, cry, sing, or applaud. But timorous beasties need not apply as our Burns Night Poetry Competition returns for 2023!   Stay tuned with our social channels!
