Ownership Change Dear {NAME}, When I built the first Master of Malt website back in 1999

Ownership Change [Master of Malt logo]( Dear {NAME}, When I built the first Master of Malt website back in 1999, I had no idea then that I would still be here a quarter of a century later.  For years I was a one-man band - chief cook and bottle washer - yet by word of mouth, slowly but surely, we grew, and 10 years later in 2009 I managed to convince a couple of friends I’d known since I was 7 years old to quit their proper jobs and come and join me in a shed (yes, literally).  We were fed up with how most businesses treated their customers, and we wanted to build a company that did things differently - a company which treated its customers like real people worthy of time and respect rather than just a way to make a quick buck. We wanted to build a company we were proud of and wanted to be customers of.  That led to us doing pretty much everything differently from the rest of the pack.  We built an entirely new ecommerce platform from scratch, made sure our prices were fair, stocked everything, and made sure we could take an order at 9pm and still deliver it the next morning. We also made sure we responded to people super fast when they email us, and there was someone to talk to from early in the morning to late at night.  And we innovated our sample service (Drinks by the Dram) because people kept asking for it, and we thought, why not? We’d like to be able to try before we shelled out on a whole bottle as well!  We made gift vouchers that paid interest and never expired because the way everyone else did them seemed crazy.  We didn’t understand why most businesses made it so hard to talk to them - didn’t they want to talk to their customers? - so we made sure our phone number was easy to find and every email came from “[pleasereply@masterofmalt.com](mailto: pleasereply@masterofmalt.com)” rather than “[do-not-reply@whocares.com](mailto: do-not-reply@whocares.com)”.  With every decision, we just built what we would want as customers, and we kept at it.  This simple philosophy meant people kept coming back, and they told their friends - which was good because we didn’t have any money for marketing. We grew pretty quickly, and soon people were knocking on the door trying to buy us, which was a bit of a shock since we’d never considered selling the business.  Even though I loved Master of Malt and didn’t want to let it go, there were personal reasons which meant I felt that I had no choice, and so in 2018 I agreed to sell. We kept running the company for the next 6 years and accomplished a lot of things I’m proud of, as well as making plenty of mistakes.  I never dared to dream that we’d one day be able to buy the business back, but a few weeks ago, completely out of the blue, we were offered the opportunity to do just that, and I’m proud to say that Master of Malt is once again fully independent and 100% founder-owned.  We wouldn’t have made it this far without loyal customers like you, who stuck with us through good times and bad. I cannot thank you enough for being a Master of Malt customer and giving us your business - thank you for being there for us, and thank you for telling your friends about us.  Every day I wake up knowing that we only exist because people like you choose to spend their hard-earned money with us, and I am determined to work tirelessly to justify that decision to put your trust in us.  It’s been a long journey, and we’ve learned a lot, but I still feel like it’s a journey which has only just begun. I could not be more excited about what’s next for Master of Malt, and I would like to ask for your help and support in continuing to build a company that we both want to be customers of.  I look forward to being on this journey with you for many years to come. Thank you :-)  Justin Founder P.S. Would you be willing to have a chat with me about what we could do better and how we can build a better company for our customers? If you would be willing to spare just a few minutes to talk by phone or video over the next few months I’d really appreciate it.     [Master of Malt logo] UK 01892 888 376 • Int +44 (0)1892 888376 hello@masterofmalt.com © 2024 Master of Malt | Orders are subject to our [Terms](. Flesch reading score measures how complex a text is. The lower the score, the more difficult the text is to read. The Flesch readability score uses the average length of your sentences (measured by the number of words) and the average number of syllables per word in an equation to calculate the reading ease. Text with a very high Flesch reading ease score (about 100) is straightforward and easy to read, with short sentences and no words of more than two syllables. Usually, a reading ease score of 60-70 is considered acceptable/normal for web copy.
