Counting my blessings! ð [Little Hyatt Lake]( My dear sister and brother-in-law graciously gifted us their inflatable kayaks when their one-year sabbatical ended and they headed back to Scotland last month! 2 Instagram Updates Instagram just started rolling out two big changes:
- You can now post *20* photos/videos in your IG CAROUSEL posts. That's a 2x increase from the prior max of 10.
- VIEWS is the new primary metric across all formats on IG: reels, live, photos, carousels, and stories. First, why would anyone want to share a whopping 20 photos/videos in one post? Well, as usual, Meta is iterating to compete with/copy TikTok. (You can make a post with as many as 35 photos on TT! Hm! ð®) The good thing about carousel posts is that the algorithm itself will test out which of your images/videos people respond to best. Then it will favor that one in the feed. Certain content creators will definitely benefit from this carousel increase. And then with the new views metric, this will measure the number of times a reel started to play or replay and the number of times a non-reel appeared on a person's screen. Well, guess what? You might think of a View as 3 seconds, right? Nope. It's the same as a Reels Play. And that has always been 1 millisecond! Basically, barely appearing on a person's screen (phone/computer). So, the upshot of the new unified metric, is you'll likely see your Instagram insights going UP! I'd love to hear your thoughts.
