this story totally SHOCKED me ð²âÍ âÍ âÍ âÍ âÍ âÍ âÍ âÍ âÍ âÍ âÍ âÍ âÍ âÍ âÍ âÍ âÍ âÍ âÍ âÍ âÍ âÍ âÍ âÍ âÍ âÍ âÍ âÍ âÍ âÍ âÍ âÍ âÍ âÍ âÍ âÍ âÍ âÍ âÍ âÍ âÍ âÍ âÍ âÍ âÍ âÍ âÍ âÍ âÍ âÍ âÍ âÍ âÍ âÍ âÍ âÍ âÍ âÍ âÍ âÍ âÍ âÍ âÍ âÍ âÍ âÍ âÍ âÍ âÍ âÍ âÍ âÍ âÍ âÍ âÍ âÍ âÍ âÍ âÍ âÍ âÍ âÍ âÍ âÍ âÍ âÍ âÍ âÍ âÍ âÍ âÍ âÍ âÍ âÍ âÍ âÍ âÍ âÍ âÍ âÍ âÍ âÍ âÍ âÍ âÍ âÍ âÍ âÍ âÍ âÍ âÍ âÍ âÍ âÍ âÍ âÍ âÍ âÍ âÍ âÍ âÍ âÍ âÍ âÍ âÍ âÍ âÍ âÍ âÍ âÍ âÍ âÍ âÍ âÍ âÍ âÍ âÍ âÍ âÍ âÍ âÍ âÍ âÍ âÍ âÍ âÍ âÍ âÍ âÍ âÍ Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â The other night, I was at the New York Film Festival. Because Josh is in a new, must-see independent movie called The Friend. The movie is set here in the city. Lots of it was shot around my neighborhood, which never gets old for me. :) The entire cast is spectacular. It includes THE most incredible Great Dane named Bing ð¶ (character name, Apollo) among other uber talents like Naomi Watts and Bill Murray. After the screening, there was an on-stage Q&A with the director, producers, and cast. Notably absentâ¦? Bill Murray. When the moderator asked about Bill, I heard a story Iâll never forget. Long before the film festival, he was asked if he wanted to come to the New York premiere. He said âSure. But Iâll be in Scotland golfing. Why donât you all come here and do it?â ððð But wait, because this gets even better⦠Bill Murray doesnât have an agent. He also doesnât have email. In fact, a couple years ago, he got a toll free 1-800 number. If you do manage to get through, youâll hear a computerized pre-recorded message with no promise of ever hearing back. Apparently, Bill got tired of his phone endlessly ringing with non-stop requests on his time. In an interview with IndieWire, he shared: âIâm not very disciplined anymore. This was a way you could not answer any phone, and whenever you felt like engaging, you could check to see who had bothered to call and what the message was. It just freed up my life a whole lot.â Kind of refreshing, isnât it? In a world where it seems like everyone is clamoring for more and more attention, I found Billâs commitment to doing his career differently LIFE GIVING. It reminded me of Adele, who recently announced sheâs taking an indefinite hiatus from performing to enjoy the life sheâs been building for the past seven years⦠out of the spotlight. Sheâs one of the most talented singers in the world, and now sheâs excited about other creative interests. And just living her life. #YESADELE ðððððð A few things that stand out to me: 1. NOTHING in modern life is a must. 2. When industry insiders say âthis is how itâs done,â that doesnât mean itâs the only way it can be done. 3. YOU GET TO WRITE YOUR OWN RULEBOOK. 4. Just because much of the world has succumbed to a hectic, fractured, mind-numbing existence staring at screens desperately hoping to stay relevant⦠and exhausted by the seemingly endless demands on their attention and time â doesnât mean you have to.

- You donât need a smart phone attached to your face 24/7.
- Texts donât have to be acknowledged immediately, or ever.
- You donât have to be on social media.
- Bigger isnât always better.
- More isnât always what itâs cracked up to be. Challenge societal, familial, and cultural assumptions, {NAME}. Question your habits, especially those that involve technology or leave you chasing anything but your own freedom. Have the courage to do whatever it takes to live in peace, your way. Want to go deeper? Hereâs a good journal prompt: âï¸ If you could wave a magic wand and remove one source of stress or overwhelm, what would it be? How would life feel without it? Hit reply and let me know. Truly. Iâd love to hear your answer. One last thing. While distribution for the movie The Friend isnât finalized yet, DO put this movie ð¿ on your must-watch list. Especially if you appreciate New York City, the healing power of dogs, and phenomenal storytelling. The movie is adapted from a novel written by Sigrid Nunez. Itâs an extraordinary movie that will melt your heart â¤ï¸. Take good care of you, okay? You deserve it. With so much love, Marie P.S. Hereâs me and Joshie at the premiere!
