This story from one of our B-School grads, Mandy, redefines what it means to build a business that serves your ambitions AND your community. I’ll let her take it from here… “I went from not having enough money to buy food — to growing my business into an online program with members in over 40 countries. ["I went from not having enough money to buy food — to growing my business into an online program with members in over 40 countries."]( Not only does it help me survive, but it supports me and my family so we can live as close to our way of living as Indigenous people as possible. B-School has also helped me give us a voice in a space where our perspective has never been heard before — the mental health and wellness industry. Now even Western medical professionals are coming to learn from me, government agencies are inviting me to train their people and speak at conferences, and the National Crisis Text Line has named me an 'Indigenous Mental Health leader to follow and learn from'. For anyone who knows history, this is a big deal. I started my online business because I’d escaped domestic violence and couldn’t have a job where I could be found. But besides not knowing what I was doing, I was also struggling with feeling like a sellout. For some reason, making money and working jobs that barely made me enough to pay for bills and food, with no time left to experience life, felt acceptable. But to make money from home with the possibility that it could grow into something that could help me not just survive but thrive... I don’t know. It felt wrong. Maybe we’ve been conditioned for so many generations to believe that, as Indigenous people, our only place in this society is one where we suffer. But joining B-School and learning from Marie helped me remember something I was once told: We live in a time now where, as Indigenous people, we have to learn how to walk in two worlds to survive. And learning as much as we can from non-Natives, using it together with our own knowledge, could help us do that. Marie helped me see that our knowledge and perspective are needed in this world. And money is not just a tool for evil and greed. It’s a way for us to survive and protect ourselves in this world. So we can buy back land where we can live and be safe. So we can build a learning center where Indigenous people in and around NYC can have access to cultural practices and traditional knowledge. So we can grow gardens for food banks with traditional foods and medicines. None of this would be possible if I hadn’t joined B-School and learned how to grow my business. In fact, I wish I could ask my college for a refund because I learned more from B-School than I ever did there. If you’re overwhelmed and don’t know what you’re doing, B-School is like a map that shows you where to go. One step at a time.” WOW, {NAME}. 🤯😭 Just take a moment to let that sink in. Your journey, your vision, your dreams — they're all valid and SO FREAKIN’ important. And if you ever doubt that, remember Mandy's story. She's not just building a business — she's creating a legacy that will last generations. So, {NAME}, are you ready to take that next step? Because the world needs that special gift that only you have. With so much love, 💗 Marie P.S. Ready to take action on YOUR dreams, {NAME}?
