{NAME} – Today, we honor our fallen service members who made the ultimate sacrifice – hero

{NAME} – Today, we honor our fallen service members who made the ultimate sacrifice – heroes who have fought for our freedom since the American Revolution. It's because of their courage that we today can enjoy liberty and opportunity, and can call our country a democracy. On Memorial Day, we reflect upon the values that inspired our fallen heroes, and how we can uphold them so that no sacrifices will have ever been made in vain. It is also a day to think of the Gold Star families who have dealt with the loss of loved ones with grace and tenacity. As we gather with loved ones this weekend, let us also celebrate the unity and resilience that define our nation. Memorial Day is not only about mourning our losses but also about coming together to support one another and to honor the values for which these heroes fought. Should I have the honor to serve in Congress, I promise to work tirelessly to support the ideals that so many have given their lives to defend. It is the very least I can do for such bravery.
