We hope you’ll take a moment to read it from beginning to end and hear why this community and this fight means so much to Marcy. No, not the House of Representatives, but my childhood home in Toledo, where I still reside today. Where I come from, a house still means a lot. It represents family and the stake we hold in our community. My grandparents were Polish immigrants choosing to lay down roots and raise their families in Toledo. They instilled diligence and duty into my parents - mom worked in a spark plug factory where she served on the UAW organizing committee, and dad retired from Jeep and ran a small family grocery store. As the house was passed down, so too were the values of hard work and community service. Because my parents invested in me, I was the first person in my family to go to college. I worked in urban planning and development, but when my community asked me to step up and run for Congress, I answered the call. I have lived in this district, in the same house, for most of my life. My constituents are friends and neighbors, and I am honored to serve and fight for them. Governing is not always glamorous. Crafting, amending, and passing legislation is a grueling process that requires the dedication and patience my parents instilled in me. It involves identifying the needs of a community and then fighting hard to bring back the resources needed to help the region thrive. From funding for job training in our schools or constructing the World War II Memorial to securing funding for a vegetable garden at a senior housing complex and holding back the Asian carp’s invasion of the Great Lakes, no project can be too daunting. I love this district like I love my house. Our work is both challenging and fulfilling. It is the highest honor of my life to serve our community. I will always put forth my very best effort for the people of Northern Ohio because they deserve nothing less. [I’m asking you to help continue this good work in Ohio.
