Looking for some interview tips? We asked Manpower Recruiter Daniel Vieco Ortiz to share some advice on having a successful interview. How can candidates with limited interviewing experience feel confident during their interview? In one point of our history all of us were candidates without any experience in interviews, so the first thing is, your fear is normal, you’ll feel some anxiety and nerves. Just remember, if a recruiter is contacting you it’s because you may have some skills that match the job profile. Get prepared for your interview. Read about the company and the job role. Imagine some scenarios or questions and practice answering some common interview questions. Pay attention to your body language—you can smile during the interview even if it’s a phone interview. It could make a difference! How can a candidate effectively share their past job experiences during an interview and leave a positive impression on the recruiter or hiring manager? You can match your past experiences with the role you’re applying for, highlight your skills and point out your selling points as a candidate—maybe you’ve achieved some goals or awards in your past job experiences. Let the recruiter know about these. Also, you can be concise but remember to provide enough information about your personal and professional skills. And remember to be enthusiastic about the interview, role or company. As recruiters, we appreciate those candidates who are excited about a new professional challenge. What advice would you give to a candidate who is looking to transition their skills to a different industry? I’m passionate about new beginnings. I started working as social psychologist, but one day I had to change my field, and I started working as a recruiter with Manpower. It’s been challenging but such an encouraging experience. I’ve learned a lot during this year and a half. My principal advice for these changes is to identify your transferable skills like leadership, communication, empathy and problem-solving. Take some new courses or earn certifications that apply to the role that you’re looking for. Be a student again and get passionate about your new field. Connect with professionals in the industry and research the jobs and enterprises that you’re looking to transition to. Overall, what would you say is the most important piece of information for a candidate to remember during their job search and while they’re in the interview process? I would say, remember to be yourself: you’re amazing as you are, and this authenticity could build some rapport with recruiters. Remember that the job search is a process, so be patient. You may have some difficult days but also you'll have some happier days. Maintain a positive vibe and learn from your interview experiences. This could improve your skills and, also, by doing this, you’ll know what you value as a candidate, and you’ll do better during your job search and future interviews. € You are receiving this email because you have opted in to emails from ManpowerGroup North America.
