I laughed the first time my college roommate told me this story: “Yeah, the last time we flew back to Guatemala to visit family, my mom made us dress in basically rags—seriously—because she was scared dressing normally would make us look too ‘rich’.” I didn’t laugh because I thought it was silly. In fact, exactly the opposite—Because it felt so familiar. ‘Cause, see, here’s what I was taught growing up… The more you flaunt your success, the more you attract unwanted attention and jealousy. Which leads to BAD things happening. So you should basically never brag about your achievements, and definitely not about how much money you have. While I’ve kind of broken that rule—especially earlier in this business so people could have proof that I was “legit” and had a real 7-figure business—I’ve actually stuck to it fairly well, all things considered. For example, I don’t play the usual “games” most people do in online business… Like the “look at how much money I can spend on logo’d things” game. Or the “let me show you my bank account” game. (I feel like beyond establishing legitimacy, doing so is kind of just asking for trouble. So you’ll definitely never see me share a screenshot of my bank account or any such silliness.) Or the “look at how amazing my life is—because your life can be just as amazing if you buy my stuff” game. No judgment on anyone who chooses to play those games. To each their own. But here are the games I DO choose to play. And find a lot more enjoyable too: >> The “Anti-B.S. or fluff” game >> The “High-value content” game >> The “Growing your business based on real skills—what you coach on, marketing, sales, and running a business—so that you never have to depend on anyone else, any platform, or any trend” game. >> The “Build your success, wealth, and freedom quietly” game >> And the “Watch your business, bank account, impact, fulfillment, and control grow by leaps and bounds every year” game Because with these “games,” you’re creating real value. You have actual systems. You build a true business. And you get to do it the way you want.
