It’s hard to not be struck with awe standing in front of the outlines of hundreds of ancient prints of brightly colored hands. It truly makes you feel small against the march of time. This week Unesco released its list of newest additions to receive World Heritage designation. The 42 new destinations span five continents and include a Viking Age fortress in [Denmark]( a Silk Road corridor in [Uzbekistan]( and an elephant stronghold in [the Congo](. Inclusion on the list can be a blessing (preventing destruction) and a curse (drawing overtourism).
