Local SEO is an untapped goldmine – and big brands are sleeping on it. Get ahead!                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                 September 25, 2024 | [Read Online]( 👾Leveling Up 👾 Companies are losing $54.1 billion in revenue each year by ignoring a key component of search engine optimization. I’m talking about local SEO. When it comes to local searches, smaller businesses often outperform large brands. Search for coffee shop near me, and chances are you’ll see a list of nearby coffee shops – but not a single mention of the three Starbucks locations within a 5-mile radius. That’s because, according to a recent study by SOCI, many multi-location companies fail to prioritize local visibility. It’s an expensive mistake. 96.2% of Americans use mobile phones to access the internet, according to Statista. These users often search for local products or services based on an immediate need, such as finding a nearby restaurant, store, or service. They often use voice search queries to do this, which tend to have a high local intent. Think: “Where is the closest…?” And Google’s algorithm favors local results when mobile users perform searches. SOCI found that brands that invest in local SEO are 2.3X more likely to be seen by consumers searching for nearby businesses online. Their research also showed that brands with a high local visibility index (LVI) had a 2-3X higher than average year-over-year revenue growth. Google has been dialing back on search results that include a Local Pack, creating fierce competition for these coveted spots. Here’s how to increase your visibility in local searches: - Optimize your website for local intent keywords - Create local landing pages - Optimize your Google Business Profile and other local directories - Engage with local audiences on social media - Encourage reviews - Respond to every review, positive or negative, in a timely manner If you’ve been neglecting local SEO, give these strategies a try and watch your revenue roll in.
