Happy Anniversary, {NAME}!

Our one year anniversary! [Leaders We Deserve]( {NAME}, Today marks one year since Kevin and I launched Leaders We Deserve – and it’s been one hell of a ride. This time last year we had no money and only 3,000 of my personal Gmail contacts to build a list from. (Which I didn’t realize would include some of my ex-girlfriends. Yikes, sorry about that.) But you all showed up and made this dream a reality. One year ago, we envisioned an organization designed to build a new political movement aimed at electing bold, young progressive leaders to state and federal office. And we got to work right away! We’re living in a time of violence, hatred, and environmental destruction. Our elected leaders have failed to respond to the cries of the future generation. Young people nowadays envision a future where kids can go to school without getting gunned down — nothing too radical, right? Conservatives have long realized the importance of the state legislature and have weakened Democratic governors with legislation, used gerrymandering to benefit themselves, and relied on dark money to intentionally weaken the government and empower corporate America, but progressives have lagged behind in the critical work of building a strong bench of leaders to carry our fight into the future. But now, thanks to Leaders We Deserve, we’re taking back elections from corporations and putting the fate of our nation back in the hands of the people. And we’re electing the young, courageous leaders who will fight for our progressive values for years to come. With the support of folks like you, {NAME}, we’ve created one of the most influential national movements in just ONE year. And we’re not slowing down. So far, Leaders We Deserve has helped inspiring candidates like Nadarius Clark and Molly Cook secure seats in positions of power. Where already Nadarius killed a bill to arm teachers AND passed a gun safety law despite Virginia having a Republican governor. Now, we’re approaching one of the most important elections in American history, and we have an amazing slate of candidates that we’re getting elected up-and-down the ballot.
