We have a lot of work to do between now and November. [Leaders We Deserve]( Now I'm really worried, {NAME}. I’m sure you’ve seen the recent headlines: [This is why the work we’re doing at Leaders We Deserve is so important. I’m about to explain why, but first – can you donate $5 to join us in the fight?]( President Biden’s support is eroding in critical battleground states, especially among young and nonwhite voters. It’s an unfortunate reality, but if voters stay home in November, the likelihood of another Trump term increases dramatically. We can’t control what happens at the top of the ticket – or truly know how accurate these polls are. But we do have an insurance policy for November regardless of the polls that the Republicans aren’t counting on: young, progressive candidates running in pivotal districts all across the country. Our endorsed candidates – like Bryce Berry and Ashwin Ramaswami in Georgia, Anna Thomas in Pennsylvania, and Oscar De Los Santos in Arizona – have the potential to inspire young people to vote this November. And the more voters they bring to the polls, the better the chances of Biden winning those same districts. Consider this, {NAME}: President Biden only won Georgia by 11,779 votes in 2020.1 Ashwin is running in a state Senate district with a population that is 28% Asian American, according to Census data.2 As a young, progressive Indian American on the ballot, Ashwin could inspire thousands of new Democratic voters to the polls as he would be the first Indian American state legislator in Georgia state history. Ashwin could be the reason Biden keeps Georgia. The same can be said for another of our candidates in Georgia: Bryce Berry, a middle school math teacher who would be the first Gen Z member of the Georgia House. As Biden struggles with young men of color in the polls, he could benefit from exciting candidates like Bryce running with him on the Democratic ticket. I’m sure you’ve heard about candidates down the ballot “riding the coattails” of the presidential nominee – meaning that Democrats running for local and state offices need a strong candidate at the top of the ticket to get people out to vote. 👉 We think the opposite can be true, as well. President Biden can “ride the reverse coattails” of our bold, progressive candidates, all Gen-Z or Millennials, to victory. Candidates like Anna Thomas in PA who actually have the chance to prevent an abortion ban or the repeal of gun laws in their state. Your investment in these important local races is contributing to Biden’s reelection and protecting democracy from Trump’s march to authoritarianism. We have a lot of work to do between now and November, but I believe that we can get young people out to vote, elect a new generation of leaders, and stop Trump and his MAGA Republicans from taking over our government again. [{NAME}, we’re doing everything we can to get young people to the polls and elect the leaders we deserve in November — but we can’t do it without your support.
