We are 100% behind Oscar’s campaign in Arizona. [Leaders We Deserve]( {NAME}, “Let me call you back… I’m repealing the abortion ban.” That’s the text that Oscar De Los Santos sent me a few weeks ago when I called him to let him know that Leaders We Deserve was going to endorse his campaign. Oscar is a former public school teacher, a Rhodes Scholar, and one of the most progressive members of the Arizona House of Representatives. He fought like hell to repeal Arizona’s 1864 abortion ban — and won. Now, the MAGA Republicans who control the Arizona House are throwing a fit and just kicked Oscar off of his committees. It’s time to fight back. [Can you make a $5 contribution now to support Oscar De Los Santos and the work we are all doing to elect the new generation of progressive leaders?]( Let me tell you a little bit more about Oscar, {NAME}: He’s the son of working-class immigrants, a former 6th grade teacher, and a long-time voting rights organizer. Oscar was first elected to the Arizona House in 2022. And since then, he’s been working around the clock to deliver for young people, women, the LGBTQ+ community, people of color, and the working class. He introduced the Arizona Medical Debt Cancellation Act, which Arizona Governor Katie Hobbs enacted via executive order. It’s the largest medical debt cancellation program in U.S. history and will wipe out $2 billion of medical debt for 1 million Arizonans. He’s the lead author of the Statewide Anti-discrimination Act, which would ban discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity in the Grand Canyon State. And he’s also introduced legislation to end the use of private prisons in Arizona, increase the minimum wage, strengthen labor unions, and crack down on shady private equity firms and mega corporations that are jacking up the cost of housing.
