{NAME} - Last week, I cast the most important vote Iâve taken as a member of Congress. Alongside a bipartisan group of my colleagues on Wednesday, I voted to avoid a catastrophic default while ensuring the folks at home didnât lose the benefits they deserve. First, I want to make one thing clear: While I was proud to vote for this bill, we cannot normalize this process. The livelihoods of millions of hardworking Americans should never be used as bargaining chips in Washington. And a radical faction of an extreme political party should not have the power to hold our economy hostage. The final bipartisan bill, however, protected Social Security payments, safeguarded veteransâ benefits, and ensured that no child would lose access to SNAP benefits. {NAME}, I ran for Congress to be a bipartisan, pragmatic leader committed to getting things done for our children and families. And every day, I strive to be the transparent, accountable, and reliable leader that Southwest Ohioans elected me to be. Thatâs who I am.
