[LancasterOnline - Breaking News]( BREAKING NEWS [Asset-image]( [Supreme Court sends Trump immunity case back to lower court, dimming chance of trial before election]( The Supreme Court has extended the delay in the Washington criminal case against Donald Trump on charges he plotted to overturn his 2020 presidential election loss, all but ending prospects he could be tried before the November election. In a historic ruling Friday, the justices said for the first time former presidents can be shielded from prosecution for at least some of what they do in the Oval Office. The justices have ordered lower courts to figure out how to apply the decision to Trumpâs case rather than do it themselves. The outcome means additional delay before the Republican ex-president could face trial. Trump has denied doing anything wrong.
