This is why this fight is so important. [To unsubscribe click here.]( Team, Last week I wrote to you about Caroline, who told her story of needing an abortion in Florida after being diagnosed with brain cancer. Under Florida’s extreme abortion ban, or the abortion bans my opponent would allow states to implement, Caroline wouldn’t have been able to access the abortion she needed in order to receive treatment to fight her cancer – treatment that gave her more time with her young daughter and her husband. Republican governor of Florida Ron DeSantis’s health department threatened criminal charges for television stations that run an ad in which Caroline tells her story. A federal judge had to issue a restraining order in order to prevent the state from further threatening TV stations, literally reminding the department that "It’s the First Amendment, stupid." I have seen situations like Caroline’s – where patients had to end wanted pregnancies due to circumstances beyond their control. I know the stakes, and I know the consequences when these decisions are taken out of the hands of patients. [In Congress, I’ll immediately fight to ensure that our reproductive health care decisions stay where they belong – in the hands of patients.
