A superb find from Parker’s all-time favorite Napa vintage… Sunday Jul 31st, 2022 [View in Browser]( [KL-emailheader.gif]( 50% Off a Library Napa Cab from an All-Time Great Vintage [2013 Schweiger Vineyards "Dedication" Spring Mountain District Bordeaux Blend (Elsewhere $120)]( ($59.95) “...this is clearly a wine that is just hitting its stride and will cruise for at least another 10 years.” — Ryan Woodhouse, K&L Domestic Buyer --------------------------------------------------------------- It's been quite a while since we've seen a stellar, winery-direct deal from the epic 2013 Napa vintage, but the 2013 Schweiger Vineyards "Dedication" Spring Mountain District Bordeaux Blend breaks the drought with style. This old-school Spring Mountain blend is in full swing with nearly ten years under its belt, but there's at least another decade at peak form in store for this beauty. Made from the choicest lots from the 35-acre estate, it's a true tribute to the Bordelais art of blending, while the robust and chiseled structure of the vintage comes through in spades. The staunchly traditional style of the estate plays in perfect tune with the classical Napa paradigm of 2013, the year that Robert Parker called the “the greatest vintage I have ever tasted for Bordeaux varieties in Northern California.” Domestic buyer Ryan Woodhouse immediately saw the potential in this library gem, calling it “such a beauty of a wine” while extolling its quintessential Spring Mountain character. At nearly 50% off the original release price, it's a highly limited, golden opportunity to land a solid library performer from a Napa vintage that we rarely see on the market anymore. [Schweiger Vineyards] --------------------------------------------------------------- [2013 Schweiger Vineyards "Dedication" Spring Mountain District Bordeaux Blend (Elsewhere $120)]( Schweiger Vineyards "Dedication" Spring Mountain District Bordeaux Blend (Elsewhere $120)]( ($59.95) K&L Notes: This 2013 "Dedication" serves as the tenth release of Schweiger's Bordelais project. Winemaker Andy Schweiger selects what he deems the best fruit from their various vineyard blocks (35 acres planted at 2000 ft elevation) in the Spring Mountain District AVA of Napa Valley. The wine's composition is ever-evolving and each vintage is a unique blend of Bordeaux varietals, with the 2013 settling at 56% Cabernet Sauvignon, 32% Merlot, 9% Cabernet Franc, and 3% Malbec; bottled in 2016. Woodhouse]( | K&L Domestic Buyer | Review Date: July 29, 2022 Here's a rare opportunity to get your hands on some perfectly aged, mountain-grown Cab from the iconic 2013 vintage. Finding wines from this now-famed vintage that Robert Parker called the "finest vintage" in his 37+-year career is becoming increasingly difficult. That's a real shame, as many of the wines are just now hitting their peak drinking windows as they approach ten years of age. Schweiger Vineyards is perfectly located right at the peak of Napa Valley's revered Spring Mountain District, the region famed for classically styled, age-worthy wines and studded with big names such as Lokoya, Stony Hill, Pride Mountain, Philip Togni, Keenan, and more. Schweiger is a family-owned estate planted in 1979. Much of the vineyard is planted on very steep terrain with many blocks so steep that they had to be terraced into the hillsides. Second-generation vintner Andy Schweiger is the winemaker in the family. After learning his trade at several top estates in the valley (Joseph Phelps, to name one), he came home to take the reins. The 2013 Dedication is a Cabernet Sauvignon-dominated, Bordeaux-style blend of 56% Cab Sauv, 32% Merlot, 9% Cab Franc, and 3% Malbec. It was given an extended 32 months in French oak, which has beautifully tamed the mountain tannins. The wine is drinking absolutely perfectly. It still has a wonderful concentration of primary fruit with lush blackberry, plum, and cassis along with classic Spring Mountain characters of tobacco leaf, pine needle, and cigar box. The wine has a great structural core and fine tannins but is beautifully resolved and ready to drink. There are just subtle hints of bottle development, which add to the complexity, but this is clearly a wine that is just hitting its stride and will cruise for at least another ten years. We took every case offered and have a remarkably good price on such a beauty of a wine. Limited inventory, so don't miss it. Moses]( | K&L Staff Member | Review Date: July 23, 2022 Schweiger's 2013 Dedication not only presents the brilliance of the vintage, but also shows a deft touch with balancing the beauty of site and fruit. With aromas of black to red fruit, pine, milk chocolate, and mint, it is easy to keep finding one nuance after another. On the palate, juicy deep red cherries lead the way, with a thread of acid that keeps lifting the fruit, while the richness and the tannin interplay resoundingly. It's easy to see it playing on par with its peers at the original release price, but this is another story altogether. Napa Cab fans will be delighted by this back-vintage gem. --------------------------------------------------------------- [New Feed]( [Auction]( [Local]( --------------------------------------------------------------- [On the Trail (K&L Blog)]( --------------------------------------------------------------- [Instagram]( [Instagram]( [Facebook]( [Twitter]( --------------------------------------------------------------- [BORDEAUX]( | [NAPA]( | [BURGUNDY]( | [CHAMPAGNE]( | [ITALY]( | [RHÔNE]( | [SPIRITS]( --------------------------------------------------------------- [My Account]( | [Wine Clubs]( | [Events]( |[Gift Cards]( | [Accessories]( | [Delivery]( --------------------------------------------------------------- Missed an offer?
