They’re planning far longer in advance than usual, including one grocer that stocked up on Thanksgiving turkeys and holiday hams during the summer–months earlier than usual. Others are bracing for the cold and flu season by stockpiling cleaning and sanitizing products, as well as herbal tea and cold remedies. Cases remain elevated at more than 40,000 per day and experts have warned of a possible surge in the colder months. In a push for increasing testing, President Donald Trump planned to announce a new federal program to distribute millions of rapid coronavirus tests to states.
