A third of them were reported in North Carolina.  Western North Carolina has been hit by devastating floods, with entire communities under several feet of water. At least 35 people have died in Buncombe County, which contains the city of Asheville.  Helene made landfall Thursday night in Florida's Big Bend region as a Category 4 hurricane. Though the storm has mostly dissipated, its leftovers combined with a front could mean more rainfall for parts of the already saturated central Appalachians.  [Read More Here]( Over 90,000 Georgia residents sheltering a day after chemical plant fire sent chlorine into the air  Over 90,000 residents in a county east of Atlanta were advised to shelter in place on Monday, following a chemical plant fire that released a large plume of dark smoke. The BioLab plant in Conyers, Georgia, experienced a fire that raised concerns about air quality due to the detection of chlorine, a harmful irritant, in the air. In light of these findings, local officials recommended that residents keep their air conditioning off and seal their windows and doors.  The fire was contained by late Sunday afternoon, and while Interstate 20, which had been closed in both directions, reopened on Monday morning, some roads and county government offices remained closed.
