The suspect, who previously came under investigation for online threats related to a school shooting last year, was interviewed by law enforcement at that time but denied involvement. Despite his father's assurance that the suspect did not have unsupervised access to firearms, authorities lacked sufficient grounds for arrest, though they were advised to monitor the situation. The suspect, armed with an "AR platform-style weapon," surrendered to a sheriff's deputy after the officer engaged him, preventing further escalation. The tragic shooting resulted in the deaths of students Mason Schermerhorn and Christian Angulo, and teachers Richard Aspinwall and Christina Irimie. Nine others, including eight teachers and one student, were injured. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is exploring any connection between the previous threats and Wednesday's shooting. The suspect is expected to face murder charges and will be tried as an adult.  [Read More Here]( South Carolina basketball star Ashlyn Watkins is charged with assault and kidnapping  Ashlyn Watkins, a forward for the South Carolina women's basketball team and a national championship winner, was arrested on Saturday on charges of assault and battery and kidnapping. According to Richland County judicial records, Watkins was granted a $30,000 personal recognizance bond and ordered to avoid direct or indirect contact with the unnamed victim. Additionally, she must stay 1,000 feet away from the victim’s home, workplace, school, and place of worship, though she is permitted to travel for basketball games and practices. Watkins is scheduled to appear in court on October 25.  A warrant from the University of South Carolina Police Department details that Watkins allegedly assaulted the victim by forcefully grabbing her face, pulling her arms, and pushing her. The warrant also accuses Watkins of picking up the victim against her will and controlling her movement, which prevented her from leaving. The victim managed to escape and activate a fire alarm, prompting a response from police and fire personnel. The victim received treatment for non-life-threatening injuries. The University is aware of Watkins' arrest and is gathering more information, while Watkins has not yet commented publicly.  [Read more updates here](                                                                           American Sports & Culture NFL Week 1 latest buzz, upset predictions and fantasy tips  Week 1 of the 2024 NFL season is finally here, and league insiders Jeremy Fowler and Dan Graziano are here to break down the biggest questions, latest news and notable buzz heading into the season opener.
