even before Kevin McCarthy was ousted and Republicans couldn't choose a replacement, Congress was me

even before Kevin McCarthy was ousted and Republicans couldn't choose a replacement, Congress was messy. [Katie Porter for Senate]( As I cleaned up the kitchen this morning with my favorite sponge [(you can get your own by clicking here!)]( I was reminded that even before Kevin McCarthy was ousted and Republicans couldn't choose a replacement, Congress was messy. [Katie's favorite sponge is a perfect way to clean up your toughest messes. ]( When I got to Congress in 2019, I was used to mess—I was a single mom of three who had just flipped a Republican held seat blue. But I quickly saw just how entrenched privilege and corruption were in Washington. A prime example of that corruption is congressional stock trading. Members of Congress have routinely profited from trading stocks based on information they learn in private briefings. We saw it during the early days of the COVID pandemic. And we’ve seen it from members of both parties, who trade fossil fuel or insurance company stocks as they regulate (or fail to regulate) those very industries. My bill, the STOCK ACT 2.0 would effectively ban congressional stock trading and create real punishments for those who break the rules. But resistance from folks on both sides of the aisle has kept this from becoming law. Cleaning up corruption will be one of my top priorities in the Senate. [Can you chip in today to help me get there?]( [Donate ›››]( Thanks a ton, Katie Katie is running for the U.S. Senate because Californians deserve a warrior fighting for them in Washington. Our campaign is people-powered, we don’t take a dime from corporate PACs, federal lobbyists, or executives from Big Oil or Big Pharma.
