If this trend continues, we could see the influence of corporate PACs and big check donors increase, as campaigns who rely on grassroots donors (like ours) struggle to compete against the millions wealthy donors and PAC checks can provide. [Katie Porter for Senate]( New from Politico: Across the board, grassroots fundraising is down nearly 50% compared to the first half of 2021. “..a sudden shortfall in grassroots giving would signal a tectonic shift in politics. The flow of this cash has made political stars of outsiders.” If this trend continues, we could see the influence of corporate PACs and big check donors increase, as campaigns who rely on grassroots donors (like ours) struggle to compete against the millions wealthy donors and PAC checks can provide. Here’s the truth. I’ve never taken a dime from corporate PACs, but my opponents have spent decades in Washington collecting and saving their checks. I was only able to compete against nearly ten million dollars in super PAC spending last year to defend our House seat because of small dollar donations. I’m so proud of the grassroots team we’ve built. People like me, a single mom and relative newcomer, wouldn’t be in office without you. Look, I know some fundraising emails can be annoying at best and spam at worst. I’ve intentionally built our email program to be different: sharing with you what I’m doing in California and in Congress, explaining why we rely on your support, and yes, even sending along my favorite recipes. I believe you are an important part of our team, and we don’t take your support for granted. But we can’t win this race without boosting our grassroots fundraising numbers. Without that support we won’t have the resources we need to run ads, hire organizers, and prepare volunteers. [So if you can, consider stepping up and making a donation today. Your gift will make a huge difference at this pivotal moment for grassroots funded campaign.]( [Donate ›››]( Thanks so much, Katie Porter Katie is running for the U.S. Senate because Californians deserve a warrior fighting for them in Washington. Our campaign is people-powered, we don’t take a dime from corporate PACs, federal lobbyists, or executives from Big Oil or Big Pharma.
