I won’t ever trick you because your trust matters to me. [Truth to Power PAC]( You matter—which is why I never demand your help with scammy language that scares or coerces you into donating. It’s not my style. My background is in consumer protection, so I make it a priority when asking you to donate that my messages are clear, honest, and informative. Too many candidates and organizations use language like “Donate $5 today and it will be triple-matched,” “Warning: Payment incomplete,” or “We need 5,238 donors from YOUR zip code.” These tactics range from misleading to downright false, and they will never be used by my team. In Congress, I’ve led efforts to crack down on scam PACs, which can often be the worst offenders. Scam PACs are organizations that exist to steal money rather than to support a cause or candidate. Their expenditures—coming from Americans who think they’re chipping in for real causes—go solely to “consultants” who pocket the money. It’s a shameful way to make a quick buck. My style is to be frank with you. We have less than 2 months until November. I need your help for Truth to Power to elect candidates who refuse to be swayed by corporate interests. [Truly, whatever zip code you’re in, I’d be so appreciative of your support! Can you make a contribution today ahead of our end-of-quarter fundraising deadline?]( [Donate ›››]( Thanks for reading, and thanks for supporting Truth to Power today. Katie Katie Porter started Truth to Power to support Democrats who reject corporate PAC money and are running to protect the environment, restore the nationwide right to an abortion, and create an economy that works for working people.
