The longtime public health official spent six days in the hospital with the mosquito-borne illness, but a spokesperson said he is expected to make a âfull recovery.â Though itâs unclear how he contracted the virus, CBS News chief medical correspondent Dr. Jonathan LaPook said he personally spoke with Fauci and believes he was likely infected from a mosquito bite in his backyard in Washington, D.C. (Getty Images) Israel launched strikes in Lebanon on Sunday, which it said were preemptive against a "large-scale" attack by Hezbollah in response to the July assassination of commander Sayyed Fuad Shukr. The militant group responded by firing hundreds of projectiles into Israel, all of which were intercepted. Experts fear further escalation, and the U.S. Embassy in Beirut told citizens in Lebanon to "prepare contingency plans" â though Hezbollah's leader indicated there wouldn't be additional strikes, saying, "at this stage, the people can take a breath and relax." Kamala Harris has raised $540 million since launching her presidential bid last month, according to a campaign memo released Sunday. She reportedly brought in $82 million during the DNC, and one-third of that cash came from first-time donors. Those figures canât be independently verified until the campaignâs next finance reports are filed. Telegram CEO Pavel Durov was arrested in France on Saturday in relation to the messaging serviceâs lax moderation of illegal activity on the platform. French authorities are investigating whether Durov (often called âthe Mark Zuckerberg of Russiaâ) refused to cooperate with law enforcement on offenses such as cyber fraud and online sexual exploitation. The Russian embassy said it has asked for more details about the arrest, and Telegram said in a statement that it's âabsurd to claim that a platform or its owner are responsible for abuse of that platform.â Aaron Judge hit his 50th home run of the season in the first inning against the Colorado Rockies on Sunday. That makes Judge the fifth player in MLB history to have three 50-home-run seasons, alongside Alex Rodriguez, Sammy Sosa, Mark McGwire, and Babe Ruth. The hit was Judge's 18th homer of the season in the first inning, matching A-Rod's record.
