Friends – I write to you today with a heavy heart to let you know that I will not be running for re-election to Congress this year. This team has been by my side since day one, fighting for the issues we all care about so deeply – combating climate change, passing common-sense gun laws, and protecting women’s reproductive rights. This was an extremely personal decision. I have always believed that elected officials must give everything they can and then know when it is time to leave. Politics is never easy and these past few years have been challenging for all of us. But I could never have made it this far without your support and I am tremendously grateful for all we have achieved together. It has been the honor of my life serving as a state and federal prosecutor, district attorney, and U.S. Representative. I cannot thank you enough for your commitment to public service and democracy and I know we will keep up the fight together.
