I am particularly mindful of the challenges that generations of civil rights activists had to overcome here on Long Island and across the country. They knew that the fight for justice and true democracy would be a constant – and it is a fight we are still engaged in, a fight that is more urgent than ever. Today, we are advocating for the same causes that those activists fought for, including civil rights, voting rights, and economic and racial justice. So as we reflect on the incredible contributions Black Americans have made to our nation even in the face of adversity, we must also recognize that the fight for true equality is still going on. Black History Month is a reminder of not only how far we have come, but also how far we have to go. But am confident that together, we will continue to break down barriers and make progress to allow future generations to accomplish even more. Thank you for standing with me as we work together to create a more tolerant and just society for all. – Kathleen --------------------------------------------------------------- [Facebook]( [Twitter]( Email is an important way for us to keep supporters like you informed about critical issues and to build a winning grassroots campaign.
