{NAME} -- We need to make sure you saw this email from our team last week about the Census, because ensuring New Yorkers fill out the Census is one of our most important priorities this month. The Census results will determine everything from how many seats New York gets in Congress, to how many federal dollars are allocated to our schools, hospitals, and infrastructure. You can fill out the Census online at [My2020Census.gov]( by phone at (844) 330-2020, or through the mail by returning the form that was sent to your home address. Thanks for doing your civic duty! Begin forwarded message: [ Hey {NAME}, Have you filled out the Census yet? If not, [it’s absolutely critical that you do by the September 30th deadline](. - The results of the Census determine where $675 billion of federal funding are allocated every year. - These funds would benefit schools, hospitals, infrastructure, federal assistance programs like Medicare and the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program, and so much more. - An undercount of just 1% of New York’s citizens could result in a loss of $110,000 in education funding and $208,000 in funding for jobs programs. New York is a state that is critically at-risk for being undercounted, which could have disastrous effects on everything from the amount of funding we get to the number of representatives we have in Congress. To ensure that our communities are taken care of, [please make sure to fill out the Census by September 30th.]( You will NOT be asked for your citizenship status, your Social Security number, credit card number or personal financial information, or for donations of any kind. All of your responses are kept confidential, and your responses cannot be used against you by law enforcement or in a court. By law, the information you provide cannot be shared with law enforcement, immigration officials, or even your landlord.
