The JustinGuitar Lessons & Songs App is here, and to celebrate... a giveaway! September 2021 News Howdy guitar friend, Hope this newsletter finds you safe and well and finding lots of time with your 6 string friend! I'm finally into my new studio, but it's taken a while to get set up - and it's been school holidays, and so I been parenting more than usual. I had my filmmaker expert friend Lee over a couple of days ago to help me fine-tune the setup, and it's looking great. :) I will restart filming this week! Also - the [JustinGuitar Lessons & Songs app]( update is finally global! To celebrate, I'm [giving away some free subscriptions]( to the app. :) It only takes like 30 seconds to enter the draw, and you might win one of 10 subscriptions to the mega updated app. This update brings the app in line with last year's updated beginner course, and the backing tracks are now a real band experience! They sound like the real tracks. There are even vocals, which you can turn off if you want to sing! The whole interface has been improved and updated too. The feedback has been excellent, and we have more features out shortly too. I know it's going to help y'all stay motivated and on track with your guitar progress. ;) Now let's check out what's up! September Highlights
- The JustinGuitar Lessons & Songs App is HERE.
- Win a free subscription to my app!

- Life Stuff... It's finally happened. :) The new JustinGuitar Lessons & Songs App is [here]( And it's the same awesome app you already know, but even better. :) You don't have to use the app to learn guitar with me, but if you were going to use one app to [help you speed up your progress]( and avoid bad habits, then this is the one! The app will be super effective for anyone struggling with playing real songs, especially changing chords without stopping your strumming patterns! The course in the website and app are the same, but you'll play along with real songs in the app, which helps you force chord changes and improve your rhythm. The most common beginner mistake I see is stopping the rhythm between chord changes. When you play with the app, the band never stops, so you won't either. ;) The app runs on a subscription basis because of copywriting rules, but I kept it as affordable as possible - and I know it's worth it! You also have a [7-day free trial]( to try the app out, and the [built-in tuner]( is always free, even if you don't subscribe. I really love the app - and I'm super proud to release such a big update! I thank all the students who have been learning with the app and the awesome team behind its development.
[Give my App a try! Download it now and get started for free](. :) To celebrate the launch, we are [giving away 10 subscriptions]( for the mega improved Songs & Lessons app! This doesn't happen often, so don't miss out on the opportunity of being one of the lucky ones. Only takes a minute!
[Enter The Draw]( Ah, the Major Scale! 💙 One of the greatest things about being an Intermediate guitar player is making music out of scales. :) And the ultimate goal of my [Major Scale Maestro courses]( is to help you with that! Can you make music out of the first three Major Scale patterns you learned in [Grade 4]( Now it's time to dig deeper! In these Grade 5 lessons, we'll learn how to play [Pattern 4 of the Major Scale]( (so you can get to know your fretboard even better) and get experimenting a few things too! We start with [Legato Experiments]( and then explore [Melodic Sequences]( in a more advanced context. To finalize, we learn [how to string bend]( in a scale context. This course is perfect if you're an intermediate player who wants to develop your musicianship further! More on this course coming soon - just delayed cos of the studio move!
[Check Out The Lessons Here!]( So many new song lessons! And y'all enjoying the [song request feature]( over the website, eh? Of course, the most voted ones are also the trickier ones! :) With the studio moving, I've been actually a little bit late on new song lessons, but I haven't stopped working on them. I've actually been working on the most request song ever, Here Comes The Sun, by The Beatles. I'll be honest - it's a tough one to teach, but I'm determined to make the best lesson on it. There are many other most voted songs in the works right now, and I can't wait to release them. Please, keep [bringing your requests]( - I just love this democratic game. :) The first most voted song I was able to release a lesson on was [Champagne Supernova by Oasis]( - and I also released a few ones planned before the song requested board came to life. Let's check them out. [Beyond by Leon Bridges]( is excellent for anyone who's getting started with a B Minor Chord. Most of all, it's an excellent tune for all guitar players who love playing a great melody on the acoustic guitar. If you don't know this song yet and love a tasty lick, give it a listen too! ;) This song lesson is a bit different because we'll also explore how to transpose the key of a song using a guitar capo. :) That's a great skill to have under your belt! But it doesn't really matter how you decide to play [Son of a Preacher Man by Dusty Springfield]( this tune is great fun. The intro is beautiful - more advanced players should definitely explore it. I think [Cardigan by Taylor Swift]( a beautiful song! It has great lyrics and melody. It's originally a piano-based song, but it works great on the acoustic guitar. You'll need a Bm Chord to play this song (and a guitar capo!), but we'll explore an easier version using only open chords too. More Food for Thought posts! Many years doing this gig, and I still dig it so much! :) I keep revisiting my Food for Thought articles, and this past month was a pretty interesting one. We started off talking about [The Beauty in Dissonance]( that secret ingredient that all beautiful chords (and usually stretch ones!) have. Then, we dived into [Mindful Listening]( and I shared a bit about how I got into Mindfulness and why I brought that into my musical life. Playing guitar is all about listening, right? The last Food for Thought of the month was about [Manipulating Guitar Chords](. Bring your guitar when reading this post - I'll walk you through some simple exercises, applying basic music theory. It's fun, and it can open up so many things! More food cooking... stay tuned in my [social media]( to grab them once they're on the table.
[Read More Food For Thought Here]( Italy Workshops Are Back. :) Guitar, beaches, and amazing food and wine! I really missed the workshops last year and am super happy that they're happening again at the end of September. The electric jam workshop is almost sold out, but a few spots are still left on the [Acoustic Campfire]( workshop. It's all about learning to play with other people and the kind of things you might play at a campfire or with friends at a bbq, that kind of vibe. We cover a lot of ground, but you'll also have time to jam and to enjoy wonderful Rimini - right on the coast and a popular tourist spot. Luckily, we're going just after the official season ends, so it should be a lot less crowded than usual. If you thought about coming on one of these, there's never been a better time to get away after the dreadful Covid mess we've all been living through! Hope to jam with you soon. :)
[Read More or Book Now]( A brand new store! So, a promo code to celebrate it. With the (slight!) price increase at TeeSpring recently, they also brought loads of new products and implemented improvements in their system to serve you all better. :) That - and a request from a dear student, Emma, who wanted some [JustinGuitar pullovers]( - inspired Laryne and Fanny to do a complete makeover at my merch store! There are cool new products, a few more on their way - and also, some of the older ones are going away very soon, so grab that dad joke tee while you still can. ;) Use promo code SUNSET to get a 10% off on all accessories, tees, and merch stuff - songbooks excluded. Hurry though, code ends Tuesday night (September 7th) at 11:59 pm Pacific Time. Big thank you to everyone supporting the site and buying some merch. It helps me keep this freight train chugging along.
[Shop Now]( Life Stuff... Where to start... so much happened in the last month. The girls were away for a bit, and so I was working like crazy on the new studio set up and dealing with build delays... moving out of my old office and setting up all my stuff that's been in storage for a year! I've got a bunch of boxes left to unpack and some tidying to do, but I'm most of the way through now and super excited to get filming! I went to see The Lion King in London yesterday, mostly for my daughter, but what an amazing show! I don't really dig musicals much, but the spectacle is really something; the performers were great, costumes and set were incredible, the band was on point... and that look of wonder in Vivi's eyes was really priceless (unlike the tickets!) It's only a few weeks until the [Italy workshops]( so been working on all the lessons and songs for those too... including Hotel California solos, which I had somehow never learned before. That song really is a work of art - so many beautiful nuances to dig into and perfect in so many ways. And yes, I'll get a lesson done on it too! Also - a big thank you to everyone who [donated]( to the website last month! I wouldn't be able to afford so many new lessons and improvements at JustinGuitar.com without your support, so I really appreciate your contribution. Together, we really are helping to spread the power of music and guitar. Thank you! I hope you have a fab month with much guitar fun, love, and laughter! :) J.
