New song lesson format, job offer, and the new Intermediate Course on its way! February 2021 News Ho

New song lesson format, job offer, and the new Intermediate Course on its way! February 2021 News Howdy guitar friend, Hope this newsletter finds you safe and well on these crazy days. I'm really missing working with real people and meeting friends at the pub... so many things that I took for granted before but will appreciate much more now! Only good thing about it I guess it's how much more time most people can find for playing guitar! I just (as in one minute before sending this!) released a [BRAND NEW SONG LESSON FORMAT]( which features two Justin's! It was a lot of fun to make, an idea that I had when I noticed something very strange about a song when it came on the radio in the car on the way to the studio! [I'm online answering questions on that video right now]( if you have a burning question you wanted to ask me! Between homeschooling, house reno, and making new songs lessons for you I have been spending most of my time developing the structure for the new Intermediate Grades - and it's gonna be incredible!! It's basically a university diploma over 3 grades and covers a LOT of fun stuff. Y'all gonna love it! I've started scripting already and I hope to start filming next week, might even start releasing some of the modules the following week! Stay tuned on [my social media]( to know when the first lesson is out. I also wanted to thank everyone for the 'What does JustinGuitar being free to you' videos and emails. You're awesome, and I'm truly thankful for all the support I always get. Now let's see what's new in the JustinGuitarLand! :) February Highlights - Eye of the Tiger | Featuring... the C Guy. - 6 New Song Lessons, and 2 more coming each week! - One More #GuitarQuestion Answrd for You :) - Job Offer: The team is getting bigger! - New Products & Discount Eye of the Tiger | Featuring... the C Dude! Have you watched it already? So, I had loads of fun doing a new 'cover song lesson' on [how to play Eye of the Tiger]( on the guitar and I think it both fun and interesting, maybe even for people who don't play guitar. The video shows how two guitars can work together on a track. I did a full lesson explaining all the bits too of course so you can learn how to play the full song, [watch the](. Eye of the Tiger has one of the most famous power chord riffs in history. It automatically makes us think about Silvester Stalone, eh? Haha. Who doesn't think about him as Rocky when this song starts playing? Anyway, the fun thing is that one guitar gets the riffs and the other guitar ONLY PLAYS THE NOTE C, nothing else for the whole song. Once you know, you will always notice it when you hear the song, it's funny! Playing one note with consistent dynamics and right in the pocket is harder than you might think - give it a go with one of the backing tracks at the end of the lesson video! [Full Lesson Available Here]( [Cover Lesson Available Here]( Ok - the team thing really works. Besides getting the Intermediate Course plans all done, I was able to release SIX new song lessons in the last couple of weeks. The last time I was this consistent with new songs was more than a year ago - and I have 2 new songs a week done and scheduled for rest of the month! There's something for everyone - pop, rock, grunge (yep - Pearl Jam vibes still going on here.) Links to the new lessons below! Also - stay tuned (I mean, subscribed!) to be the first to know about the new lessons. There's a very requested remake coming out tomorrow too and a MEGA requested metal hit next weekend! :) I don't think I'll be able to take any song requests for the next couple of months (since I've got many planned already!) But since I've been so ahead of time, I'm doing research and trying to get to know new stuff and what y'all have been listening to. If you use YouTube, make sure you check out [my Community](. So, let's see the new song lessons! [Last Kiss by Pearl Jam]( is one of those songs to remind us how awesome of a singer Eddie Vedder is. It's also a very fun one to play! It's just C, G, Em, and D all the way. It sounds great on both acoustic and electric guitar, and you can give it a go with [the old faithful strumming](. Now it's time for some fuzz! [Sweet Leaf by Black Sabbath]( is a super easy riff which is a lot of fun. It gets complex later in the song, but you can leave those bits ;) It's a perfect lesson if you're learning your power chords! Punk J shows no sign of going away. Time for a classic. [Sheena is a Punk Rocker by Ramones]( is just so fun! I start singing it just by writing its name. :) But I had to cheat for the lesson. Hey, have you ever tried playing a full energy all-down strumming (sitting in an office chair!!!) while singing? You lot can't agree if Green Day is Pop or Punk (haha, check the YouTube comments!) But we all know it's just great music, so who cares it's label? Check out the lesson on [When I Come Around](. Easy power chord riffs for beginners to play on both acoustic and electric. This song is so recognizable that it makes it also very easy to play! A lot is going on in [Cocaine - Eric Clapton's version]( but we look at easy Power Chords and the iconic riff. Cocaine for Beginners wasn't a well thought starting title, but was fun! Have you seen the number of records that this lady has been breaking? It's just awesome - and actually pretty well deserved. [drivers license]( Olivia Rodrigo]( is not a very guitar-ish song, but it has a pulsing Bb note that sounds just very sexy on the guitar. Yep, I've finally spoken up about shopping for guitars online. Well, it's never been so easy to buy online. And right now, we may have no choice - it seems a bit complicated to go to a store to try some guitars out. At the same time - how will you know if you'll connect with that instrument? What's the best way to shop for vintage guitars? If you're a beginner and want just an average guitar, how will you avoid having problems buying online? I've tried to answer some of these questions for you. [Check out the video here]( and let me know in the comments other guitar questions you want me to answer! :) In the lesson above, I've also shared my own experience buying my Vintage Telecaster. I saved money for ages to finally be able to get one. But every guitar is different, even if made by the same luthier - so how would I find the perfect one? Watch the story of my [Vintage Telecaster](. :) Hey you - Laryne here! :) As many of you know, I'm Justin's assistant. And guess what? Now I need an assistant too! :) We're looking for a writer at heart! If you have killer English and love to communicate awesome ideas easily - this gig is for you. We'll play around with user experience and SEO - but not to worry. We don't require any previous experience, just accurate writing (and reading!) Here's what we're looking for: - Content writing skills (hey, bloggers!) - Curiosity and a will to learn - Organized and punctual - Attention to detail. You can be anywhere in the world - but we're using American English to write, so I expect you to be on point with it. :) Are you a match? Reach out to me - laryne[at]justinguitar.com and let's talk write. The JustinGuitar Beginner App The big update for the [Beginner App]( is also going very well! We released version 3 of the update, still in soft-launch, but the feedback has been awesome! It includes one of the most requested features ever: Remove Vocals. Now you'll be able to practice without getting distracted by the vocals or sing yourself along with the backing track. :) Fun, eh? Other improvements are: - Improved experience on iPad - Countdown during exercises - Easier to navigate between songs and lessons If you still don't have the APP, you can try it out for free - but don't forget to unsubscribe right away so you don't get charged when the trial period ends. ;) [Download the APP here! Available for iOS and Android.]( Coffee First, Then Guitar? So, who's up for some JustinGuitar mugs? :) I wanted to try out some more merch products and think that these mugs look awesome - I'm gonna buy one for myself! They're available [in my store]( - where you can also find my songbooks, t-shirts, and more cool stuff. If it seems many of you dig it, I'll explore some more cool guitar-related stuff! Let's see. :) [Click Here to Shop! :)]( JustinGuitar Jams I posted about the [JustinGuitar Jams]( the other day, and it seems most of you didn't know about it! Check it out now for real awesome backing tracks. You'll have loads of fun - and improve your guitar skills. 20% Off Guitar Pro Guitar Pro 7.5 is an excellent software for guitar players, and JustinGuitar students can get a 20% off! Just use the code JUSTINGUITAR at the [checkout on the GuitarPro website]( :) Guitar Pro file format is the most popular these days and it's really great. I use it myself and will be giving away more GP files with the coming intermediate course! The GP tabs allow you to loop sections, speed up and slow down the part and it's much more than guitar - you can add drums and bass and it sounds pretty cool. If you're up for making music already, you'll be able to edit faster and share your compositions with your jam buddies anywhere in the world. [Click Here to Shop! :)]( Other Life Stuff... Yay! My studio has a roof :) Doing the damp proofing this week and then the screed floor down early next week... so it's getting there! Started looking at new sofas and thinking about the layout and designing the new 'set' which is a lot of fun. Going to be amazing to have so much space and room to do more collaborations. Had a lot of fun in the snow we had a few weeks back, took the sled out to the wood near our house for lots of childish fun! The homeschooling thing still eating a lot of time, but managing to stay productive which is ace. Researching things for the house renovation eats up all personal time really, so never getting bored here - and learning to appreciate the small things more than ever before. Oh and I'm LOVING my new guitar - a 1965 Gibson SG that I bought from my friend Fil ([Solo Dallas](. It's set up for 8 gauge strings which I had never played before but I'm REALLY enjoying it - sounds massive and very easy to play. I'm having to relearn things because one has to play a lot lighter and I usually played with 10's or 11's, so quite a trip. You'll see it in many of the new song lessons! Lucky me. :) Ok, I better get back to scripting the intermediate lessons - that's what I call it but it's just bullet points to make sure I don't forget important stuff... but needs to get it on before I start filming! 📚 What I'm reading... - [Norse Mythology by Nail Gaiman]( - Revisiting this book as escapism and I've always enjoyed the Nordic stories and the wisdom some of them hold. Really lovely writing! - [On The Shortness of Life]( - This is a book I return to again and again to keep reminding myself not to waste a minute and to make the most of the time I have left. Some find this kind of thinking depressing, but I find it inspiring. I see it as trying to be present and choose what I'm doing... sometimes doing nothing is not 'wasted' ;) 🎶 What I'm listening to... - I've been hearing a LOT of new music the last few weeks because we got one of those Amazon Alexa things and Vivi asks Alexa to play random things like "chocolate", "running", "sunshine" and other fun words. She also got obsessed with a song called [Walking Down The Street]( by a band called Blue Sky Effect from the North of England! No idea how she found that one. But she's also obsessed with The Beatles which is ace! - I've also been digging the [new Taylor Swift album]( she really is a great writer and while I'm more jazz and rock kind of dude, I do love a great pop record. Willow is a gorgeous song! - [Ariel Posen]( has a new album out shortly which I'm really excited about, love his songs, tone and he's a killer guitar player - ticks all the boxes that cat! He's released a few tracks from the album so far, all great stuff! 📺 What I'm watching... - [Parasite]( - This film is pretty incredible. It's a dark South Korean comedy about a poor family and each family member pretends to be a professional staff for a rich family. It's got a lot of twists and surprises but it also shows the stark contrasts of wealth and opportunity, and it's funny. - [L]( - This French Netflix drama is another one with lots of contrast between the rich and poor - but I loved it as a great story, not for the social commentary! - [Cory and The Wongnotes]( - Cory Wong is the guitarist from Vulfpeck and one of the funkiest and coolest guitar players around. This is a hit 'chat show' I guess you'd call it. It's really really cool and I'm looking forward to more. Wishing you much love and laughter - and stay safe out there! :) J Copyright © 2021 Justin Guitar Ltd, All rights reserved.
