Oh man am I going hard at it right now!! So much cool stuff in the works and a huge change of scene

Oh man am I going hard at it right now!! So much cool stuff in the works and a huge change of scene on the way - exciting and scary!! August 2020 Newsletter Howdy guitar friend Running late again this month, sorry - and kinda nice that so many people wrote in asking what happened to the newsletter, glad that y'all look forward to it. The pressure is on now not to disappoint :) I've been working crazy hard the last week and this one coming - the girls are away so I'm getting as much work done as I can! I'm also trying to make sure I practice at least an hour a day on things I enjoy too - with this being my 'job' it gets easy to forget to PLAY guitar instead WORKING it :) Highlights - Beginner Lesson 12 (Power Chords) is out (also the Nitsuj!) - Beginner Lesson 13 (Beginner Blues) will be out shortly! - The Production Basics (Recording & Editing) is fully released (7 new lessons out last week!) - Nine new kids uke songs including epic classics like Baa Baa Black Sheep and I'm A Little Teapot! ha ha ha Lets hit the main website news! Lesson 12 is out, 13 on the way! Lot of people loving Lesson 12 which was all about Rock Power Chords! They are great fun and cranking on a bit of dirt is a whole lot of fun - especially for those that hadn't done it before! I've transcribed a bunch of easy Power Chord songs which I'll be filming lessons for asap because I noticed there were not many song lessons with easy Power Chords. In the near future (as soon as I finish with Grade 2 lessons), I'll be refilming many of the beginner songs too! Lesson 13 is all about the Blues. We learn 7th chords, shuffle strumming, a few variations on the 12 Bar Blues and I've made a short solo for you to have a go at too (and start improvising your own!). I filmed it all yesterday and I'll be editing it after I get this newsletter out, maybe on the weekend or early next week that one will be live on the website (and most of them will be on YouTube over the next week or two!). I'm also nearly finished writing Lesson 14 - the last in Grade 2 - which is a mixed bag of beginners consolidation tips and fun things to explore - expect that out in 2-3 weeks! [Check it all out here :)]( Big thank you to everyone that bought my new [Children's Songs For Mums & Dads]( eBook already :) and extra big thanks to everyone who left reviews on [Amazon]( (might help someone get into music, and me a sale, so if you dig it and can spare me a few minutes to leave a review - that'd be awesome!). I added another 9 song lessons including all-time classics like Baa Baa Black Sheep, I'm A Little Tea Pot and the mega hit Five Little Speckled Frogs! [See all the song lessons and my Learn Uke in 15 minutes guide here!]( Recording & Production I finally got around to releasing the rest of Adam's Production Basics - I was waiting to find time to make better thumbnails for the videos but that's the kind of job that always gets pushed down as less pressing than others and it's just taken too long. There are 7 new lessons that cover recording guitar, adding percussion, mixing, effects and compression he's done a great job on this course and if you want to get into recording yourself and making tracks (and you should - it's awesome fun!) then [check it out!]( 15% OFF this month! A bunch more new tees came out last week and there are more coming later this week :) Last month I had a promo code in the newsletter which I forgot to activate :( sorry for the confusion and frustration. So this month I made it a little bigger at 15% off with code SORRY15! What would you like to see on a tee? Please email tees@justinguitar.com with your suggestions and we might just make it! I'm hoping to get a bit more arty and fun with the tees rather than the slogan thing we got going on now :) Exciting new modules still cooking - will hit this hard soon as I get the last few new beginner lessons sorted out - they're just too consuming - and I have some guests writing some fun stuff for it too! Hope to have more news on that next month, everything feels like it's taking forever at the moment. It's now at over 140 lessons, and 12 hours of video! The first couple of grades are free so you get a vibe on what it's like, but the real fun stuff is in Grade 3 where you learn about chords in the key - and remember you get both my old theory books as PDF files (which used to sell for 10 pounds each) with your subscription and it remains at just 9.99 for 6 months. [Click Here to check it out!]( Beginner Song Course App Have you checked out the reviews for this app? I hadn't seen them in a while and there are thousands of 5* reviews on Android and iOS and so much love for it - super proud of this product and the dev team who make it all happen. The new app update is rocking along and I actually got to try the first prototype last week which was super cool - looks and sounds amazing - really can't wait to share it with you - but not even started proper beta testing yet (will be a free upgrade for all subscribers when it's ready, not a separate app!). [Check it out here! :) available for iOS and Android.]( JustinGuitar Jams [Buy one, get one FREE until end of August!]( [You must use this link!]( We're planning the next collections - we have loads of fun making them so really looking forward to it. If you've not checked them out then give them a look, they really are super fun - and beginners doing my course will love the Jam Blues series once they get the Blues jamming bug in the next lesson :) Our little [forum community]( is a very special place and there are some amazing members that deserve some recognition. The incredible forum moderators Richard (close2u) and Lieven (LievenDV) are suggesting a forum member be recognized each month and they win a $50 music voucher and an hour skype lesson with me! The Brave Batwoman! Maggie joined the forum when she started learning guitar in 2016. In that time she has been involved in many positive ways; sharing her guitar learning stories (including overcoming major injury setbacks and fighting through to play again), offering support to people uploading recordings of their own progress, taking up invites (and overcoming her fears) to record vocals for a number of international recording collaborations, and, most recently, taking her first public steps in live performance at a few open mics. She is one of a kind and a wonderful friend to so many! JustinGuitar App News Big thanks to everyone leaving reviews and feedback on the apps, much appreciated. We've got a new cool tool in development now too :) All these apps are available for [Android]( & [iOS]( :) Other life stuff... I've been in some kind of supercharged mode the last few weeks which has been great! Not sure how much longer I can keep it going but enjoying it while it lasts. I've managed to get back to doing an hour a day guitar practice and revising a bunch of songs I enjoy playing - some of which I might do lessons on, some not. A lot of requests for Eric Johnson's Song For George (linked above my insta video of we working it up!) which I might do but not sure how to approach teaching such a tricky song with so much going on! Also been working on some Tommy Emmanuel tunes, some Johhny Smith jazz things and Joe Pass chord melody fun! Found myself running a lot lately too - trying to get out for a lap of my local woods most days and if not then I do a 30 minute session on the Assault Bike and barbell stuff. My trail run route is 7k and I go hard for the first 5k and then chill for the last 2 - I managed personal best 5k Trail Run time of 24:40 last week which was a buzz, but not got close to it again since, felt full of beans that day! :) We're in the midst of a massive website update, the design, and functionality and it's looking incredible. A got the A team from [Pomegranate]( and they're really knocking it out of the park, the design looks great and they've found super insights into improving the way the site works. Can't wait to get it released. If you're looking for help with user experience for your company website then give them a look - they're great people doing amazing work :) I've got a friend who has been giving me some life coaching advice and that's spurred on a flurry of productivity quests and I've discovered a bunch of amazing apps which I'm finding super helpful, you might too. Some, like [Alfred]( just speed up routine tasks, but [Notion]( is helping organize my video workflow in a way better way than my old google spreadsheet. And the [Fantastical]( calendar app is awesome too (especially when combined with Alfred!). I've also been doing 15 minutes of touch typing practice every day on [typing.com]( (free and awesome!) and I even made time to organize my Google drive and Dropbox. Maybe I've been possessed by Chuck Norris? Been debating doing some videos about productivity stuff too but maybe I'm better sticking at guitar stuff - not like I don't have enough to do already! Anyways, enough of my gloating about this burst of super productivity, I need to get Lesson 13 edited, film a bunch of clips for the app update and get some song lessons done! But I think the dog needs a walk first - I'm getting the "get off the laptop and take me out for a run now" look from Ziggy :) Hope you stay safe and well and wishing you love and laughter! Cheers!
