JustinGuitar February 2018 Newsletter G'Day {NAME} Where did January go? Man time is just flying by.

[justinguitar logo]( JustinGuitar February 2018 Newsletter G'Day {NAME} Where did January go? Man time is just flying by... I've been my usual busy self, mostly working on the new site which is getting very close - hoping to start some very early beta testing in the next month, might be ready to go around April I hope! So exciting! :) NEW LESSONS, SONGS & MORE! Site revamp Big thank you to all those wonderful people who donated last month, it's making a difference to the funding pot and we're steaming ahead with some new features for release! The last weeks I've been tidying up the modules (courses), working a lot on the structures and writing new lessons for launch! The team is working really well and Veerle (Belgium) the designer has made some awesome tweaks, Ben (US) and Sasu (Finland) been making big steps in the development. Will (Scotland) has come up with some great graphics and Indigo (England) has helped get all the songs lessons ready! It's wonderful having help with this thing now and I super appreciate all their hard work, and your donations which make it possible! :) [Donate and help me rock the new site!]( [Site Redesign - Image of the new all songs page] Something For The Weekend...Some real fun tracks last month, continuing the AC/DC series with [For Those About To Rock]( which I think is one of my best lessons and I caught a practice play through on camera too which I kept in the vid!) and did [Dirty Deeds]( and [Touch Too Much]( too. I pulled out the classic [I Still Call Australia Home]( by Peter Allen for Australia Day too which was fun, though surprisingly emotional too, makes me homesick! From the request fest I did [While My Guitar Gently Weeps]( (Love, Anthology version) and next week we do it again in the original White album key and explore a little chord melody! I'm doing a load more live streaming too, so make sure you're subscribed to my [main channel]( and [songs channels]( and you hit the 'bell' icon (right side next to where you subscribe) so you get notifications when I go live. Lots more coming up. The live transcriptions of [This Charming Man]( (The Smiths) and [The Chain]( (Fleetwood Mac) are still on YouTube, lessons coming next month! ['For Those About To Rock' AC/DC]( ['For Those About To Rock' AC/DC]( ['I Still Call Australia Home' Peter Allen]( ['I Still Call Australia Home' Peter Allen]( ['Touch Too Much' AC/DC ]( ['Touch Too Much' AC/DC]( ['While My Guitar Gently Weeps' AC/DC ]( ['While My Guitar Gently Weeps' AC/DC]( ['Dirty Deeds' AC/DC]( ['Dirty Deeds' AC/DC]( [This Charming Man]( [TRANSCRIBING! 'This Charming Man' The Smiths]( More Awesome New Tees Our ever growing guitar tee collection includes a fun [Beginner Chord Cheat]( Tee, [This Is My Guitar]( and [Right Button]( and lots more on the way soon! :) [Tee Shirts at the Official JustinGuitar Store]( [Difficult Times]( [Beginner Chord Cheat]( [Plato]( [This Is My Guitar]( [Real Grandpas]( [Right Button]( Quist Hangs & Teaches "Violining" Back before Xmas by buddy Quist came down for a play and a hang and we filmed a little lesson on a cool technique he used at the start of one of his songs. Lots of fun to experiment with :) [Guest Lesson: Quist Teaches Violining]( Ear Training Series I've finally got around to typing up the series so far and Indigo will be transferring it over to the old site in the next day or two because I wrote the new lessons on the new site. The next stage should be out this week too so keep an eye out on YouTube main channel too. [Ear Training Page]( New Jam Blues 4 Beginners (Backing Tracks) [Jam Blues 4 Beginners Backing Track] Couple of weeks ago ago I got together with some mates to make a new Jam Blues album specifically designed for beginners, easy keys, easy tempos and loads of fun. The band is Paul Stewart on drums, Owen Parker on keys, Dave Marks on bass and production and me on guitar, was a real pleasure playing with such stellar musicians. It came out great and we recorded all 10 tracks in one afternoon - we jammed and you can join us. Available exclusively on the official store. *Technical mess up* This album won't be up for sale until early next week as I didn't get the tracks to Jedi in time! Sorry! [Buy Jam Backing Tracks]( JustinGuitar Community Song Competition So the first song comp of 2018 is no underway and this time it's open format so you can do a cover or original song, improvisation, whatever you dig. Winner will get an hour Skype lesson with me and lots of great feedback from the community! [See the rules and enter right here!]( General News I'm still struggling with the fact that January has gone already, I mean did I leave a x2 switch on somewhere? Finally managed to kick the nasty cold that had been lingering so back practicing, exercising regularly and working my butt off! Still not getting anywhere enough sleep but I gather that's part of the deal in early years of parenting and the happiness my daughter brings easily makes up for it. She's grabbing the ukulele on her own now and strumming and singing Ra Ra The Noisy Lion, but not forming chords yet. Been experimenting more with live streaming and I think it's something I'm going to do way more of, when transcribing or doing stuff that may be interesting I got the camera set up now all the time so it's nice and easy. Ran a little survey on the new YouTube community tab and seems like as well as transcribing and covers that people interesting in the writing and recording a song idea too, so planning on trying that later this month! you'll only get notified of the steam if you're subscribed and hit the bell button for notifications. Will be doing these on both channels. The new site is really moving along now and I'm hoping to start beta testing later this month and then perhaps making it live slowly and just releasing a bit at a time and making sure there are no problems. I just can't wait really it's been such a lot of work (and expense) and I wanna get it out and rocking so we can start on the even more awesome tech ideas to help y'all on your guitar journey. In slightly off topic news, I also discovered Stoicism (ancient philosophy) and kinda shocked at how closely it resembles my life view and how I aspire to live my life. I've been a fan of mindfulness for some time though I don't specifically practice it enough, but the Stoic outlook really resonated with me. If you're not familiar with it then [this video is a great introduction](. I do think there are some parallels with learning too - focus on things you can change and don't worry about the stuff you can't :) I'm looking forward to exploring this more. I got loads to do so going to get back to work. Wishing you much love, laughter and guitar fun! J.
