Real name Darren Dixon, the artist has been a pillar of the UK hip-hop scene since the early days, when garage and hip-hop were being experimented with by the likes of Morefire Crew, Plastician, and even crews like Nasty Crew - of which D Double E was a member of. He simply hasn't stopped doing his thing, though, and "Shenanigans" is a class E-joint full of those aggy vibes which somehow never seem to lose their comical edge. This is a head's tune, the sort of cut to stick on your whip's speakers at full blast. It's a London ting, blud..]( [Listen]( [Wishlist]( [Buy]( [Wiley]( [Godfather]( [WEA]( [We don't need to tell you how important this is. Wiley's eleventh, and potentially last, solo album Godfather is the zenith of a man who has dedicated his life to UK bass culture for almost 20 years. With beats as fiery as his forthright thoughts, it's the sound of a man going back to his roots, writhing deep in the raw, sucker-punch club banger mindset; the raw orchestral drama of "Back With A Banger" and "Pattern Up", the fast-lane bass and strings of "Can't Go Wrong" and the space-funk bass twister "Bait Face" are countered smoothly with more introspective, deeper cuts such as the soulful "On This" and the wavey sci-fi style "Laptop". These are just a handful of the highlights here. Once again the Godfather has made us an offer we can't refuse.]( [Listen]( [Wishlist]( [Buy]( [Ago]( [Why Won't You]( [Innamind Recordings](Recordings/?utm_source=feat_email&utm_medium=feat_email_17-12-25&utm_term=feat_email_all_none&utm_content=feat_email_best+of+dubstep+2017&utm_campaign=feat_email_dubstep_jd) [Dark, militant dubstep coming sraight out of Renaissance city Florence , and we would say that Ago seems to be at the top of the Dubstep food chain. The producer returns to InnaMind Recordings with a swarm of fully-fledged dread-out fire; the bass weight is very much in place alongside the rest of their heartical bliss. "Why Won't You", the lead tune, literally steps its way through the rhythm with big power drums and echoing FX tricks, while "Flashin'" alludes to the breaks format thanks to some devious percussion work, and "Zero Shift" takes care of the sub bass fix with those huge, meandering slabs of low hertz for those looking for their bass massage. Come and get it!]( [Listen]( [Wishlist]( [Buy]( [Joker]( [Mad Night]( [Kapsize]( [Okay hands up, who did it? Who enraged Joker to this phenomenal level of bass funk fury? Go to the top of the class whoever you are because this is absolute fire. "Mad Night" sets the tone with unruly oscillations and broken glass shards of talkbox devilry, "Melkweg Bass" pays homage to one of Amsterdam's finest dancehalls with wonked out grunts, a drop into pure 23rd century jazz and an ace little sweary glitch before "Medium Core" goes HAM with the off-grid oddities and rah-ting lasers. One of his most uncompromising and deliciously off-centre releases to date; no one does it like Joker.]( [Listen]( [Wishlist]( [Buy]( [JFO]( [Stripped Back]( [Southpoint]( [Having first appeared on the evergreen bass innovation stable for their Integrate album last year, Manchester's JFO returns to Southpoint with a full EP that lives up to its name... Lean, minimal and humming with authentic dubspace science. The title track says it all; shimmering subs and reflective synth ripples, it's as pristine as we've come to expect from the Crystal Recordings founder. Elsewhere we're massaged by eastern pipes on "Illy Dub", we're pushed into the cavernous jaws of deep dubstep with the vibrantly percussed "Darka" and given a royal slap with strings and grimey rifle snares on "Peak". In case there wasn't enough reason to bag this, Triple S has twisted up "Illy Dub" for good measure. Powerful.]( [Listen]( [Wishlist]( [Buy]( [Sorrow]( [The Twelve]( [Inspected]( [Sorrow makes a long-overdue return to Inspected with his first EP of the year and he's not left anything to chance. Taking every soul-arresting aspect of his work we've fallen in love with over the years - from the breath-taking ambience to more pumped clubbier beats - he's laid his whole soul to bare...Both "Reverie" and "Want U Back" shuffle and switch on pensive sci-fi UKG twists, "Frumoasa" touches on the Balearic with its shimmering guitar, "Sheol" reminds us of Sorrow's darker side with its tubular ruffage bass textures while "The Twelve" points us in the direction of triphop's most sumptuous mezzanine. Twelve out of ten.]( [Listen]( [Wishlist]( [Buy]( [Truth]( [Lion EP]( [Deep Medi Musik](Medi+Musik/?utm_source=feat_email&utm_medium=feat_email_17-12-25&utm_term=feat_email_all_none&utm_content=feat_email_best+of+dubstep+2017&utm_campaign=feat_email_dubstep_jd) [Not content with absolutely smashing the game with their Deep Dark & Dangerous label this year, Truth return to one of their strongest spiritual homes: Deep Medi Music. Naturally they're packing some serious sentiments: "Lion" is a pounding roller that chugs with an industrial strength toxic bassline and demonic call from Teklife's Taso. "Messages" flips the situation for a much lighter, mystical and spatial exploration with fluttering break echoes and unhurried, yearning chords. Finally we're knocked seasick by the slobbering kicks and boa-like bass of "Ruffneck" which doesn't so much as live to up to its name but sets a new benchmark in dangerous, knife-edge ruffneckism. Powerful frequencies.]( [Listen]( [Wishlist]( [Buy]( [Juss B](B/?utm_source=feat_email&utm_medium=feat_email_17-12-25&utm_term=feat_email_all_none&utm_content=feat_email_best+of+dubstep+2017&utm_campaign=feat_email_dubstep_jd) [Blow My Smoke]( [Uprise Audio](Audio/?utm_source=feat_email&utm_medium=feat_email_17-12-25&utm_term=feat_email_all_none&utm_content=feat_email_best+of+dubstep+2017&utm_campaign=feat_email_dubstep_jd) [This one's been on the slow roast. Juss B's spacious, spellbinding sound has always hinted at an album excursion and, from the moment the title track's cosmic synths take you to the stars you know he hasn't disappointed. Highlights at every corner: the physical, sub-aquatic trap elements of "Dime", the devil vocals and ghetto diesel of "Hater Blockers", the seasick riff trippiness of "Grand Hustle", the glock-knocking barbed wave weaver "Starry Eyes"... The list goes on. Juss B is in his sonic element right here.]( [Listen]( [Wishlist]( [Buy]( [Clearlight]( [Magic Service]( [Subaltern]( [Belgium's Clearlight is most certainly dominating the bass domain as of late, particularly the realm of deeper, darker, more cerebral-minded dubstep. In essence, the dude is carrying forwards the tradition set by Mala et al., in the past. He returns to Subaltern with six post-apocalyptic slices of hardcore continuum-funk, opening the skies with the broken sonic shards of "Fractal Clouds", an utterly beatless affair, which falls neatly into the preposterously itchy percussive groove of the minimialistic "Illness Point". "Magic Service" lays out a little bit of tranquility thanks to its placid beats and synths, and "Carousel" evolves that mood into an eerie, grey-scaled beat sway, but it's "Back Liquid" and "Subcounciousness" that provide the most alluring moments on this tidy yet sinister blockade of bass-weight. Top stuff.]( [Listen]( [Wishlist]( [Buy]( [207]( [Brainstorm LP]( [Macabre Unit Digital](Unit+Digital/?utm_source=feat_email&utm_medium=feat_email_17-12-25&utm_term=feat_email_all_none&utm_content=feat_email_best+of+dubstep+2017&utm_campaign=feat_email_dubstep_jd) [Well established Croatian dubsmith presents his most diverse and boundary-pushing body of work to date: Brainstorm. A genre-defying project that applies his grimy, unforgiving tightly textured funk in a number of tempos and contexts, this is an album that seamlessly takes us from the light, loose-limbed 125 styles of "Ground Zero" to the brutal steppy D&B funk of "Clap Back" in the flick of a switch. Other brain-bending moments include the steady dub kicks and pranged out tones of "Acid Dust", the dusty jazz key strikes on "You Knw Wsp" and the pulverising halftime punch of "Shocker". The only shocker here would be to sleep on this... Easily one of Macabre Unit Digital's boldest and most boundary-less releases to date.]( [Listen]( [Wishlist]( [Buy]( [Anz]( [Anz EP]( [Chow Down](Down/?utm_source=feat_email&utm_medium=feat_email_17-12-25&utm_term=feat_email_all_none&utm_content=feat_email_best+of+dubstep+2017&utm_campaign=feat_email_dubstep_jd) [Manchester-based producer Anz makes her release debut here with some bold meditations on where bass music is at right now, making a strong case for how much talent is coming out of the her city at present. "Panrico" is a killer opener, rocking a set of steel drum licks before a mighty fine drop into globulous bass and frantic drums. "Clang" aligns itself with the underground grime scene, although the beats also sport a touch of B-more booty about them. "Fencin" makes the most of massive monosynth tones in a distinctly purple-tinted dubstep throwdown that would have Joker nodding his approval no doubt.]( [Listen]( [Wishlist]( [Buy]( [D-Operation Drop](Drop/?utm_source=feat_email&utm_medium=feat_email_17-12-25&utm_term=feat_email_all_none&utm_content=feat_email_best+of+dubstep+2017&utm_campaign=feat_email_dubstep_jd) [Wrong Dosage]( [Surfase]( [After a pair of bruisers for FatKidOnFire and Moonshine Recordings, respectively, D-Operation Drop land on Surfase with four intoxicated bass experiments that give a new step to the term 'dub'; it's worth mentioning that this is the first time that we've heard the genre mix so naturally with industrial shards of noise. "BabylonAB" runs its distorted quasi-beats over sea of cacophonous sonics, while "Know Yourself" most certainly belongs to the two-step side fo the equation thanks to its sharp percussive edges. "Lowkey", as the name implies, takes a much tamer approach to things by landing a dreamy, subtly dubwise riddim that ends up on some dutty bashment vibes, whereas "Wrong Dosage" offers a mechanical stance in what is surely the most tech-heavy moment in this assortment of dub experiments. Large up!]( [Listen]( [Wishlist]( [Buy]( [Balatron]( / [Crimes!](21/?utm_source=feat_email&utm_medium=feat_email_17-12-25&utm_term=feat_email_all_none&utm_content=feat_email_best+of+dubstep+2017&utm_campaign=feat_email_dubstep_jd) / [Hast]( / [Redraft]( / [Hp Ritch](Ritch/?utm_source=feat_email&utm_medium=feat_email_17-12-25&utm_term=feat_email_all_none&utm_content=feat_email_best+of+dubstep+2017&utm_campaign=feat_email_dubstep_jd) / [Reminder]( / [DJ Madd](Madd/?utm_source=feat_email&utm_medium=feat_email_17-12-25&utm_term=feat_email_all_none&utm_content=feat_email_best+of+dubstep+2017&utm_campaign=feat_email_dubstep_jd) / [Lumumba]( [Grand Royal Vol 4]( [Vandal Ltd](Ltd/?utm_source=feat_email&utm_medium=feat_email_17-12-25&utm_term=feat_email_all_none&utm_content=feat_email_best+of+dubstep+2017&utm_campaign=feat_email_dubstep_jd) [Vandal Records is a french drum and bass label founded in 2004 by SKS which is devoted to the dancefloor. Sub-label "Vandal Limited" was founded in 2014 by SKS with Redeyes and is dedicated to liquid and deep music. Their compilation Grand Royal is back with it's fourth edition of footwork, jungle and halftime flavours on Vandal LTD with a massive volume featuring Balatron from Iceland who serves up the deep and deconstructed drum and bass creeper "Missplaced" (original mix) , Hast from the UK with some wonky deep dubstep on "Beat Canon" (original mix) , DJ Madd from New York with some blunted bass inflected hip hop on "Cheeky Steppa" (original mix) plus Crimes! from Portland USA with the absolutely wicked "Beetleborg" (original mix) with bassline so razor sharp it will potentially tear up your speakers so beware!]( [Listen]( [Wishlist]( [Buy]( [Dbridge]( [Fashion Dread]( [Sentry]( [Have a word... Youngsta's launched a brand new vinyl-only label and DBridge launches it. Need we say more? Both "Fashion Dread" and "Digital Dread" are Darren White at his darkest and most stately - elephantine production, moody and misty and ultimately soaked in beautifully warm bass, both cuts have been doing the rounds on dubs for almost two years and have been in demand since Youngsta debuted them. Simply massive.]( [Listen]( [Wishlist]( [Buy]( [TMSV]( [Modification / Doom Clone / Junglis]( [Perfect]( [TMSV has decided to switch things up. The Dutch producer took a break from the music scene to find his own sound. His latest output takes inspiration from British and US street/bass music. Perfect Records is a new label run by the producer and as you're able to hear on the release: the label's focus is well crafted electronic music that embraces the beauty of imperfection. Starting off with the deep dubstep of "Modification' featuring some real hypnotic polyrhythms, the jagged "Doom Clone" will shake your walls with its intense sub bass wobble. Finally "Junglis" is an angular perspective of the early '90s rave sound, with its breakneck riddims and Reese bassline being one that'll appeal to nostalgists.]( [Listen]( [Wishlist]( [Buy]( [Causa]( [Juce]( [Crucial Recordings](Recordings/?utm_source=feat_email&utm_medium=feat_email_17-12-25&utm_term=feat_email_all_none&utm_content=feat_email_best+of+dubstep+2017&utm_campaign=feat_email_dubstep_jd) [The slow and dark singular piano strikes during the intro of 'Juce' sound like a scary and slow walk down to scene of a murder, except you're one of those goofy detectives in a grey trench coat with a giant magnifying glass, although all traces of comedy are quickly lost as the track gets very sinister very quickly with the middle section revealing a ruthless rusty grind. 'Struggle' has more of a wavey vibe, like a pounding heard of circus elephants passing through the jungle with snaps of quick tribal drums and weird and wonderful high pitched calls. 'Minerals' sees us call on our snake charming skills with an eerie flute present on top of the deep sub, witch dips and dives as deviously as a python pouncing on pray.]( [Best Dubstep compilations 2017]( [View all]( Various [5 years of duploc.com album]( [DUPLOC]( [Listen]( [Wishlist]( [Buy]( Various [The Architects Vol 1]( [Artikal Music UK](Music+UK/?utm_source=feat_email&utm_medium=feat_email_17-12-25&utm_term=feat_email_all_none&utm_content=feat_email_best+dubstep++compilation&utm_campaign=feat_email_dubstep_jd) [Listen]( [Wishlist]( [Buy]( Various [Gold]( [Versed]( [Listen]( [Wishlist]( [Buy]( Various [Collective Vol 1]( [Uprise Audio](Audio/?utm_source=feat_email&utm_medium=feat_email_17-12-25&utm_term=feat_email_all_none&utm_content=feat_email_best+dubstep++compilation&utm_campaign=feat_email_dubstep_jd) [Listen]( [Wishlist]( [Buy]( [Also new this week]( [View all]( [Albzzy]( / [Forbid]( / [Ghstghstghst]( / [Lowteq]( / [J Kong](Kong/?utm_source=feat_email&utm_medium=feat_email_17-12-25&utm_term=feat_email_all_none&utm_content=feat_email_also+new+this+week&utm_campaign=feat_email_dubstep_jd) [Albzzy Selects]( [U Wot Blud](Wot+Blud/?utm_source=feat_email&utm_medium=feat_email_17-12-25&utm_term=feat_email_all_none&utm_content=feat_email_also+new+this+week&utm_campaign=feat_email_dubstep_jd) [Listen]( [Wishlist]( [Buy]( Various [Xmas Weapons]( [Den Haku](Haku/?utm_source=feat_email&utm_medium=feat_email_17-12-25&utm_term=feat_email_all_none&utm_content=feat_email_also+new+this+week&utm_campaign=feat_email_dubstep_jd) [Listen]( [Wishlist]( [Buy]( Various [Somnium House Vol 1]( [Somnium]( [Listen]( [Wishlist]( [Buy]( [Tim Schaufert](Schaufert/?utm_source=feat_email&utm_medium=feat_email_17-12-25&utm_term=feat_email_all_none&utm_content=feat_email_also+new+this+week&utm_campaign=feat_email_dubstep_jd) / [CASHFORGOLD]( [Awake]( [Artist Intelligence Agency](Intelligence+Agency/?utm_source=feat_email&utm_medium=feat_email_17-12-25&utm_term=feat_email_all_none&utm_content=feat_email_also+new+this+week&utm_campaign=feat_email_dubstep_jd) [Listen]( [Wishlist]( [Buy]( [Coming soon]( [View all]( [B1t Crunch3r](Crunch3r/?utm_source=feat_email&utm_medium=feat_email_17-12-25&utm_term=feat_email_all_none&utm_content=feat_email_coming+soon&utm_campaign=feat_email_dubstep_jd) / [Bodie]( [Phonophobia]( [Gradient Audio](Audio/?utm_source=feat_email&utm_medium=feat_email_17-12-25&utm_term=feat_email_all_none&utm_content=feat_email_coming+soon&utm_campaign=feat_email_dubstep_jd) [Listen]( [Wishlist]( [Buy]( [Sloper]( [Midnight Sun]( [Salton Recordings](Recordings/?utm_source=feat_email&utm_medium=feat_email_17-12-25&utm_term=feat_email_all_none&utm_content=feat_email_coming+soon&utm_campaign=feat_email_dubstep_jd) [Listen]( [Wishlist]( [Buy]( [Weiyu Shen](Shen/?utm_source=feat_email&utm_medium=feat_email_17-12-25&utm_term=feat_email_all_none&utm_content=feat_email_coming+soon&utm_campaign=feat_email_dubstep_jd) [Alpha Omega EP]( [Simplify Recordings](Recordings/?utm_source=feat_email&utm_medium=feat_email_17-12-25&utm_term=feat_email_all_none&utm_content=feat_email_coming+soon&utm_campaign=feat_email_dubstep_jd) [Listen]( [Wishlist]( [Buy]( [Lonely Fun](Fun/?utm_source=feat_email&utm_medium=feat_email_17-12-25&utm_term=feat_email_all_none&utm_content=feat_email_coming+soon&utm_campaign=feat_email_dubstep_jd) [HI]( [Simplify Recordings](Recordings/?utm_source=feat_email&utm_medium=feat_email_17-12-25&utm_term=feat_email_all_none&utm_content=feat_email_coming+soon&utm_campaign=feat_email_dubstep_jd) [Listen]( [Wishlist]( [Buy](
