{NAME}, this week on the debate stage, I told Ted Cruz directly to his face that he was a threat to democracy for inciting the mob that overtook our Capitol on January 6. And what was his response? He laughed!! There's nothing funny about this, {NAME}. I was on the House floor on January 6 when rioters breached the Capitol. First, I heard the glass break. Then, as they pounded on the doors, I texted my wife Aly, who was seven months pregnant with our second son: "Whatever happens, I love you." I took off my jacket and got ready to fight anyone who came through the door. Thankfully, it never came to that. But while I was barricaded on the House floor with my colleagues with our gas masks in hand, Ted Cruz â who had cheered on the mob earlier that day â hid in a supply closet. In just 19 days, we have the chance to replace Ted Cruz and give Texans the Senator we deserve.
