Vance said he would introduce a bill Tuesday to [stop any federal official,]( including the president, from implementing a mask mandate through the end of 2024. Vance’s bill, titled the [Freedom to Breathe Act](, would prevent the government from requiring masks for airplane flights, public transit, or school, and it would also bar school and transportation officials from refusing service to anyone not wearing a mask. The move comes in the wake of several facilities reimposing mask mandates. United Snafu Halts Flights for an Hour United Airlines asked the FAA to issue a [ground stop Tuesday]( that lasted an hour while the airline struggled with a system-wide technology slowdown. Hundreds of flights were delayed and several were canceled through the morning. United blamed the problem on [a software update that slowed]( its computer systems to a crawl. The airline's stock dropped 2.5% during the day, and federal officials said they'd be investigating the incident. United said no cybersecurity issues were involved.
