[Take Off] [Article Icon 1]Biden Still Not on Ohio's Ballot Arguments over foreign money in state ballot campaigns [prevented Ohio lawmakers]( from placing President Biden on November’s general election ballot ahead of Thursday’s deadline. The state House introduced a clean bill this week [allowing Biden to appear]( on the ballot, but the state Senate attached a provision outlawing foreign contributions to state ballot measure campaigns. Democrats objected, and the last day legislators could pass the fix with a simple majority passed. Ohio’s constitution requires [political parties]( to have a certified presidential nominee 90 days prior to November's election. The Democratic National Convention is scheduled for August 19, days after the August 7 deadline. Legislation is needed to change the mandate. Similar legislation was passed in [Alabama last week](, clearing the way for Biden to appear on the state’s ballot. [Article Icon 1] DOJ Sues Iowa The Justice Department is [suing the state of Iowa]( over its new illegal immigration law, along with the American Civil Liberties Union. The law allows Iowa police officers to arrest illegal immigrants who have previously been deported or barred from entering the U.S.—which the [DOJ says]( is unconstitutional and a violation of federal law. Gov. Kim Reynolds [is planning]( to stand by the law, which goes in to effect on July 1st: “Since President Biden refuses to enforce our nation’s immigration laws — threatening the safety of our citizens — Iowa will step in.” The DOJ is asking the federal district court to block the law during the litigation.
