John made me realize I knew NOTHING. [John Fetterman] Hey {NAME}, it’s John Hodgman — writer, comedian, actor, and the Daily Show’s “Resident Expert.” Let me share a story with you real quick about why I support John Fetterman and you should, too. But first — [can you join me in supporting the campaign by chipping in a $5 donation today?]( [Chip In Now »]( Okay, back to my story. It’s fall 2020. I’m cynical about the presidential election and am trying to emotionally prepare for Pennsylvania to stick with Trump for another four years. I’m listening to Pod Save America and the hosts tease an interview with Lt. Governor of Pennsylvania John Fetterman about how Biden will perform in PA. Not interested. But I ended up listening anyway, and that’s when I realized I was Jon Snow: I knew NOTHING. John broke down the PA county-by-county electoral map so confidently and cogently I felt I could see it floating in front of me. It showed such deeeeep knowledge of the place he lives and works — and who he wants to represent in the U.S. Senate — and an incredible facility for making data sing out its importance. When he said “watch Erie County,” I believed him. When he said he thought it would be close but that Biden would win PA, I WORKED VERY HARD to shut down my cynicism and accept his actual expertise and believe him. That's when I knew: this guy has got the GOODS. I felt like an idiot for not knowing about him before, and an extra idiot for picturing him as some data dweeb like me instead of a big dude in shorts. WHO LIVES IN A CONVERTED CAR DEALERSHIP. So yeah, I was late to the party by learning about John just two years ago, but let me be so clear: I AM INTO THIS GUY. Someone who combines that level of deep knowledge, communication skills, an obvious sincere devotion to public service (check his Wikipedia) with that kind of absolute confidence in who he is? I’m excited to be on his side — and I hope you are too, {NAME}. [Will you join me in supporting John Fetterman by chipping in $5 or more today?]( [Donate $5 »]( I know John will represent the actual working people of PA in the Senate because he actually LIVES here — although he does keep a small second home in Dr. Oz’s head. I may have been late to the John Fetterman Fan Club Party, but I’m all in now.
