I saw it the day it opened in Corpus Christi when I was in 8th grade in an empty theater and remember thinking to myself, “damn, that was a hell of a good movie.” I went back to see it again a few days later and the theater was justifiably packed. To take part in this free experiment before it closes, go here now: [>> Sexy photos!]( ********************** There are a lot of great one liners in that movie, and Bill Murray has one of the funniest movie monologues of all time, replete with the line, “dogs and cats, living together…” Of course the best line of the movie is Murray’s, “yes, it’s true— this man has no dick” in reference to the EPA bureaucrat who is trying to shut them down. But there is a line from Murray that is almost is good, and it’s a great example of the perfect thing to say at the perfect time. The mayor of New York has the Ghostbusters, the dickless EPA man, and all his advisors in his office at once, and he’s trying to decide if he should heed the advice of the dickless EPA guy and put the Ghostbusters in jail, or turn to them to solve the impending disaster New York City is facing. Bill Murray settles it when he looks the mayor right in the eye and says, “Lenny…if we’re right, YOU will have saved the lives of millions of registered voters.” It’s the perfect line at the perfect time, and you can see the understanding flash in Lenny’s eyes. The acting is great—see for yourself here: [ Sometimes the perfect line delivered at the right time really can bring you life changing results, especially if it’s with women. But most guys have the issue of either having nothing to say or thinking of the right thing to say after the moment has passed. A great line delivered 3 minutes too late is often lame, whereas a good line delivered at the right moment can be a great line. Obviously if all you have is one liners, you won’t get far with women. But if you have the quick wit and clever mind to deliver them at the right time in the context of your other communication, it can create vast amounts of chemistry because so few men can do it. Often women will challenge you just to see what you can come up with because they enjoy it so much. Getting good at delivering the right line at the right time is like anything else—consistent practice, and a mental rolodex full of lines that can be mixed and matched for the specific situation. So practice as much as you can—on dating sites, on IM Chat (a great way to do it), via text, on the phone, in person, watching TV (yes, you can deliver lines out loud to the tv) and any other opportunity you may get. Keep practicing and you’ll get to the point where more often than not you will have something hilarious to say at the right moment, certainly way more often than the dickless lamebrains will.
