[Jimmy Beans Wool Newsletters] [All Needles on Deck!] [Jimmy Beans Wool Newsletters] [Help us help kids affected by Hurricane Harvey.]( Thousands lost their homes as a result of Hurricane Harvey. There are many children among the displaced, and they are no less devastated by this tragic natural disaster. Laura has been thinking a lot about her own adolescence in Houston, and how the knitting community came together earlier this year to provide much-needed support during our own flood scare. We hope you'll join us in giving back and knitting hope for these kiddos! [View Blog and Video]( For every Royal Petite Knit Kit sold, JBW will donate $10 to our friends at the Knowledge Is Power Program (KIPP). 100% of the donations will go directly to the kids, some of whom have been affected not once, but twice (think Hurricane Katrina) by the havoc wrought by these natural disasters. [Knit a Royal Petite for the Children of Harvey]( Once you've knit your Royal Petite animal, consider adding a personalized message of encouragement & mailing it back to us by October 1st. Any finished animals we receive will be delivered to KIPP Houston Public Schools, where they will pair your project with a student who has been directly affected by the hurricane. Our goal is to raise $8,000 for KIPP, deliver joy (and stuffed animals) to 800 kiddos, and show the world the power of a knitting needle! What is KIPP? The Knowledge Is Power Program (KIPP) is a non-profit network of college-preparatory, public charter schools serving elementary, middle, and high school students. KIPP has a 22-year track record of preparing students in underserved communities for success in college and life. For more information on KIPP, or to donate directly, please visit their site at [(. There are 28 KIPP schools in Houston serving approximately 14,500 students from low-income families.
