a secret to *truly* making your goals happen… Isn’t it wild how a life lesson can sneak up

a secret to *truly* making your goals happen… Isn’t it wild how a life lesson can sneak up on ya in the most unexpected places/situations? (Seems like that’s often how life lessons like to show up, come to think of it.) And this is one I thought you might love, too, {NAME}! Are you good at starting, but not finishing? I saw a Tiktok video with an ADHD hack, and as someone who is always trying to learn more about the way my brain works and evolve my habits to honor the kind of flow I need, I watched the video like 6 times. And then I tried it. Distractions come in all shapes and sizes for us, and for me, I’m 100% that girl who will walk from room to room to room in my house and leave a trail of whatever I was working on previously behind me, like some kind of badly planned treasure hunt. (Sorry, Drew, lol.) My dad called me, “Tornado” because I left a trail in my wake… And old habits die hard. I own it. I’m used to it. But dang it if I don’t still get so frustrated with myself every time I think, “Wait, why did I come in here? What was I just doing? Why is that sock still on the floor?” Here’s that seemingly simple but profound tip: Don’t move rooms. —Ummm, hello??? Light bulb. A hallelujah chorus. The clouds PARTED. Why hadn’t I thought of that before? If you stay in the room, then whatever else is happening in the other rooms can’t distract you. Easy, clear. And when I tried it, it worked! The TikToker even had like 4 baskets to help you sort things in for other rooms to make you really STAY in the room and not get distracted. I left my phone in the kitchen, committed to sticking in my closet until I’d handled reorganizing it, and bam. The job was done. That ADHD hyperfocus can really come in handy sometimes… But then, as I do, I saw the life lesson behind the hack. Stay in the room. Stay in the space of your commitment. Stay in the zone you want to find success in. Do not pass GO, do not collect $200 – STAY. If you’ve been excited about that new project, but let life’s distractions keep you from finishing, streamline that commitment, that goal, so you can stay in it. Aaaaand I know how FOMO makes us feel like when we’ve got our head down, doing the work, that we’re missing out on ALL the other things we could possibly be doing!! Turns out? The opposite is true. Focusing on the space you’re in, rather than all the spaces you’re not, is actually the secret to accomplishing your goals. I love a hack and lesson combo! I’ll be back in your inbox with a very special celebration coming in a few days (extra points if you already know what it is)!
