Morning Bites: 5 things to know for Tuesday, December 19, 2023 'Slickianna' accused killer seeks bail Rushawn Patterson, the man charged with the murder of social media influencer Aneka 'Slickianna' Townsend is set to reappear today in the St James Circuit Court where his attorney, Dionne Meyler-Barrett, is expected to [make another attempt at bail on his behalf](. Patterson was denied bail when he last appeared before High Court Justice Judith Pusey in October. Townsend’s body was found floating in the sea in Reading, St James, on October 21. A post-mortem examination determined that she was strangled. Inside the Parliament The House of Representatives will meet today for the last time in 2023 at its Gordon House, Duke Street venue in downtown Kingston. West Indies look to clinch T20 series vs England The West Indies will take on England in game four of their five-match T20I series as the action moves to the Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Trinidad and Tobago. The Windies, who hold a 2-1 lead after the first three games, will be looking to wrap up the series with a win while England, whose confidence has been boosted after they [chased down a record 222/6 to win game three by seven wickets]( will be pulling out all the stops to keep the series alive with another victory. Advertisement Inflation up 1.6% in November after increases in bus, taxi fares The Statistical Institute of Jamaica (STATIN) is reporting that the [inflation rate for November 2023 was 1.6 per cent]( the highest for the calendar year to date, as the All Jamaica Consumer Price Index (CPI) rose from 133.9 to 136.0. “This upward movement was influenced mainly by a 9.9 per cent increase in the index for the ‘transport’ division, where there was a 19 per cent increase in route taxi and hackney carriage fares,” STATIN said. The Institute said the inflation rate was also impacted by a one per cent increase in the index for the ‘food and non-alcoholic beverages’ division.
