Morning Bites: 5 things to know for Friday, December 1, 2023 ICJ to hand down ruling in Guyana-Venezuela border dispute The International Court of Justice is expected to issue a decision today on Guyanaâs request to halt parts of [Venezuelaâs planned referendum]( on the ownership of the mineral and forest-rich county of Essequibo, which is at the centre of a dispute between the countries. Tensions are running high between Georgetown and Caracas, which has organized a December 3 poll to ask Venezuelans to consider annexing the Guyana-administered region of Essequibo, which makes up two-thirds of the tiny country. Both nations claim the 160,000-square-kilometre (62,000-square-mile) region, in a dispute that has intensified since ExxonMobil discovered oil there in 2015. Leoda Bradshaw, cousin return to court Leoda Bradshaw, the alleged mastermind behind the [gruesome attack that claimed the lives of 27-year old Toshyna Patterson and her 10-month old daughter Sarayah Paulwell]( will return to the Home Circuit Court today. Her cousin, Roland Balfour, who is also charged in relation to the killings, will also appear in court. Bradshaw, Balfour and two others were charged with murder and other offences in relation to the abduction and killing of the 10-month-old daughter of Member of Parliament Phillip Paulwell and her mother.
The other two co-accused agreed to plea deals and have been sentenced. One of the houses will be handed over in Coley Mountain at 10:00 am and the other in Kendal at 1:00 pm.
