The directive comes after the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Paula Llewellyn, on Monday indicated that her office would be appealing the life sentence imposed on 26-year-old Atlee Murray of March Pen Road, St Catherine, who was caught with an illegal gun, with a view to having the sentence set aside. The DPP, in a statement, said the sentence exceeds the punishment stipulated by the Firearms Act. NWC to receive water trucks The National Water Commission (NWC) will officially receive more water trucks today at a handing over ceremony at its Marescaux Road headquarters in Kingston, beginning at 10am. Minister without Portfolio in the Ministry of Economic Growth and Job Creation, Matthew Samuda will hand over the trucks on behalf of the government. The trucks are expected to significantly bolster the entity’s service delivery capability. A press advisory of the function did not specify how many trucks will be handed over.
