The education ministry, in a statement Tuesday, [noted that payment was delayed by a number of days]( as it worked alongside the Ministry of Finance and the Public Service to ensure the accurate processing, converting and uploading of the retroactive amounts and new salary rates. It said some teachers have started to receive payments. However, the JTA in a news release later in the day described the situation as “blatant disrespect to the nation’s educators” and said it “cannot guarantee normalcy come (Wednesday)”. “Colleagues, let us stand together paid and unpaid to register our displeasure,” JTA President LaSonja Harrison urged. Eight finals scheduled for second day of Champs 2023 The Inter-secondary Schools Sports Association/GraceKennedy Boys' and Girls' Athletics Championships continues at the National Stadium today, with eight finals scheduled to be contested. Among the title deciders are the 1500m finals in classes 1 to 3, the class 2 boys’ long jump final, and the finals in the class 2 girls’ shot put.
