How this exercise can change your priorities After the rollercoaster of the pandemic and all the change it brought over the last few years, Iâve been thinking a lot about what a Rich Life means to me now. In my early 20s, my Rich Life was being able to order an appetizer or a round of drinks for friends without worrying about the price. As I became more financially successful, my definition expanded â to be able to travel, to buy my time back, to be generous. When the pandemic started, I used my money to move fast. Using money can provide security in emergencies. It felt good to be able to use money for the things that mattered: the IWT team, our customers, people who needed food. Ramit's post A Rich Life includes freedom and flexibility. Yes, that includes the freedom to take a long vacation or to buy something on a whim⦠but it also includes the freedom to help protect myself and my family from unexpected threats like coronavirus. When I asked how your priorities changed during the COVID pandemic, hereâs what a few of you said: Earnable-Amber Earnable-Kyle Earnable-Annie I asked how 2020 has changed what matters to you â your [Money Dials](), your values, how you want to shape your life. This response is longer but worth reading: Earnable-D'Angelo What do these replies make you think about? How have your priorities changed from 2020 to now? My Rich Life includes living my values Itâs one thing to believe in something. Itâs a whole different animal to show that you believe in it. To go beyond paying lip service, to back up your support with time and money â and make the thing you believe in a regular part of your life. I know how much effort it takes to make these changes! Years ago, I wanted to change my body, so I built an entire system around my food and fitness. I integrated my new system into my calendar, my spending, my life. Ramit before and now Dare I say it worked? But after years of systematically chasing my goals in business, fitness, and personal development, I realized I hadnât yet applied the same effort to supporting the things that matter to me, like voting, equality, and education. Sure, I would send the occasional nonprofit donation, but beyond that⦠honestly, I didnât do much. That changed when a friend challenged me to put my money where my values were. I started integrating my personal values into my life and daily spending. Iâve integrated issues I care about, like into what I talk about here and [on my podcast](). Iâve renewed my commitment to reading, learning, and sharing what I learn. When it comes to achieving your Rich Life, it can be easy to get stuck in dream mode, thinking about "someday.â And dreaming is great! But too much dreaming and not enough action is a good way to stay stuck. What would it look like to start living your values in 2024? To start living your Rich Life, one step at a time? Hit reply and tell me. I canât respond to every email, but I read them all. [Signature] P.S.
