How my friend Selena dials up her self-improvement Money Dial.

She doesnât care what other people think. She spends on whatâs important to her â and her business success allows her to do it. Hereâs why I love it: Focusing on improving herself is what helped Selena start and grow her business (more on that later this week). But as her business grew, focusing on self-improvement and self-care has helped Selena deal with the stresses of running a multimillion-dollar business with over a dozen team members and several hundred students and clients per year. OK, letâs look at some of the specific ways Selena has turned up her self-improvement Money Dial, including her real numbers. Personal careI have impeccable eyebrows, Selena has impeccable eyelashes. This year Selena spent $4K on lash extensions and Glamnetic magnetic lashes. She also gets blowouts for her hair twice a month. As a highly visible entrepreneur and âa single woman looking for love,â Selena says her appearance is important to her for both personal and business reasons. [Selena Soo] Photo credit: Patience Manzare Hereâs another: âI get my best business ideas at the spa or on the massage table. It puts me in a relaxed state. Itâs really important for my business and personal well-being, and I prioritize it,â Selena says. She has a $99/month spa membership, and also spends $150 on 90-minute massages at home. The spa includes a saltwater floatarium, rain shower hallway, and steam room that Selena has unlimited access to. Relationship supportA few years ago, Selena was in a terrible, emotionally abusive relationship. I encourage you to read about it [here](). I read this story before Selena published it â itâs powerful and important. Thatâs part of the reason Selena invests so much in relationship support. Sheâs focused on breaking old patterns and confronting relationship fears. After she published her article, she went down an Instagram rabbit hole and discovered that one of the most prestigious matchmakers charges up to $300,000 per year for a global search. She did NOT do that. Here are some of the ways she DOES spend: - She signed up for a six-month group program with relationship coach Sami Wunder (who was one of her PR agency clients) for $6,000, as well as another program of hers for $2,000.
- She found a local matchmaker for $12,500, who provides 6â8 matches.
- She pays for dating apps like Hinge and Bumble.
- She has an executive coach, Jen Mac, who she talks with about a variety of business and personal issues, including relationships, codependency, and intimacy fears. This costs over $20,000 per year.
- She has a therapist and pays 60 euros per session. That may sound like a lot, but Selena says, âIâve spent millions of dollars on my business over the years. For me, the one thing in my life I donât have is the relationship I want. Thatâs a bigger priority to me right now than growing my business â and Iâm willing to spend money on it.â âIâve spent more than $36,000 on a business mastermind, including travel and accommodations, but I didnât get much out of it. I realized this year that I need to take risks and show up in a big way to create the relationship I want, even if my investments donât pay off.â I love her philosophy about spending money on things that ultimately didnât work: âIn business and life, you make investments based on where you are at the time and your hopes and dreams, and sometimes it doesnât work out. Thatâs okay.â Selena also talks with a psychic on a monthly basis to get her opinion on things like how a launch is going to go, who to hire, etc. She gives consultations with her psychic as gifts to friends. She also has an energy healer to help work out the physical aspects of emotional healing. She spends around $2K/year on these services. * * * After seeing these numbers, what are you thinking? I bet some of you are thinking that these numbers are âcrazyâ or âridiculous.â And you may be right â for you! What I love about Selena is that she knows whatâs important to her and what she can afford â and then she spends money on it. Tomorrow: Three stories that illustrate Selenaâs Rich Life. --------------------------------------------------------------- Inside a $1,000 sales call When was the last time you had the chance to listen in on a real sales call? Never. If youâve ever been nervous about selling, the usual advice â âBe confident!â â doesnât help much. What's more helpful? Listening to actual sales calls. I want to share with you [a sneak peek from my Earnable program]() on starting your own online business. In this video, youâll get to listen while I call a real prospect, inquire about their needs, and close a major sale. Throughout the video, I pause the call to highlight exactly what Iâm doing on the call and why. BTW, I'm sharing this for two reasons: - I love helping you experience something that very few people ever get to.
- I want to show you that sales doesn't have to be sleazy. With the right system, you can pitch your business with confidence. Here's the clip: [Earnable sneak peek]() [Watch this Earnable excerpt here]() (Bonus, there's another video on [that page]() that takes you behind the scenes of our business. Watch how someone finds us on Google, how they join our email list, and how they eventually buy for $2,388.) --------------------------------------------------------------- "What aboutâ¦?" Anytime I launch a program, I always get a flood of the same types of questions: - âWhat if Iâm left-handed?"
- "What if I live near the equator?"
- "What if my hair used to be blonde, but now itâs brunette, and I just saw two gray hairs last night?â We call this âSpecial Snowflake Syndrome,â where we believe something in our lives is so unique, nothing will ever help. This doesn't just happen for people considering joining my programs, or starting a business. I see this everywhere. Look at health and fitness forums for more examples. Or talk to any customer service or sales rep. Great questions (for any product) are about the product. Bad questions tend to be about the user. They're all different flavors of "but will this work for me?" Do you ask these types of questions? The best students â the people who make the fastest progress and have the most success â know that NO product or program or class is perfect. They know that anything they learn will need to be tweaked to fit their unique situation. That's just part of the process, and they don't let that stand in their way. The harsh reality is, people who ask questions like this are just looking for an excuse not to join. People spend years making excuses for doing nothing. It's sad. "Special Snowflake Syndrome" can be crippling. (BTW, Earnable, my flagship program on starting a business, has been tested with men, women, beginners, experienced entrepreneurs, Americans, international students, and yes, even people who live near the equator. If you truly believe you are so unique that [17+ years of the most comprehensive material on starting an online business ever assembled]() will not help you, please donât join!)
